Chapter 5
Cain’s POV
My eyes locked with the designs on her wrist. They were defiantly the same ones I had seen yesterday night. Last night she had really looked like The Princess of Darkness; her skin in the moonlike, hair and eyes black; so black they were dangerously beautiful, her sinister smile as she sauntered forward to kill me…
The design was the same I’m sure of it.
I reached forward to brush my fingers along her wrist. She flinched and pulled her hand on her lap. “What are you doing, Cain?” Her whisper yelled at me, her eyes clouding over with anger.
“Ye-yesterday,” my voice was shaky but she was angry at me for whatever reason so I tried to strengthen my voice, “I have seen those marks before. What do they mean?”
“Nothing you need to be concerned about.”
“If it’s nothing then why get all defensive about it then?”
Her facial expression changed from slightly angry to white-hot-raging anger. Opps…
She opened her mouth to speak and I braced myself for her ragging words – “Cain, Lucia? Is there a problem?” 50 shades asks.
“No Miss Coltan,” Lucia said before I could even register the question.
“Good, now get on with your work,” she says and turns on her heals to walk around the classroom.
My eyes flicker back to Lucia’s which are full of pure hatred. “Look Cain, it’s just a design, tattoo whatever you call it. So can you back the fuck off please, today has been a really shity day and with all your little rude comments it’s never going to get better so please just back the fuck off,” her voice brakes and she looks like she is going to burst into tears. Talk about mood swings, they do say girls can get them bad but, now I just feel bad.
I sigh, “Look Angel, I’m sorry okay?” I lean closer to her so her side is pressing up against the wall. It was the first time I have heard her swear and being honest it was kinda hot. She like an angry kitten so cute and adorable, sassy but deadly.
She closes her eyes and leans further away from me.
“Umm.. Cain?” She mumbles looking me in the eyes. I nod. “Hands,” she glances down to my hands that now sit on her waist. Embarrassed I remove my hands and look at my work. I hear her chuckle at my embarrassment and whisper, “Bitch,” causing her to laugh more and getting a glare of death from 50 shades.
The rest of the lesson was awkward not just for me but the whole class. The tension in the room was unmistakeable; it felt like there was a storm brewing. I would glance at Lucia every now and again. When I did she looked zoned out like she was here physically but not mentally.
The bell went Lucia jumped up and left. Her eyes were still distant, I knew it was none of my business but I had to follow her and see what was up. So I did, until I heard my name being called by the lads. After a quick chat with them I was about to follow off in the same direction as she went in but I couldn’t remember why I wanted to in the first place; like it’s just a blank thought in my head. So instead of following her I went home.
The weeks following that day flew by! Hours turned into days, days into weeks and weeks into months. Lucia had been at our school for over two months now so is only in one of my lessons and if I don’t see her at school I see her in church. I finally have a reason to go that place now! Praise be the Lord!
It’s Sunday – the day I get to see her. I only have RE, Maths and Art with her now so only see her Mondays and Wednesdays. So I can’t wait to have another one of our chats after mass including all the flirtatious looks during the mass.
Walking into church I notice her in the back row and go sit with her (better her than the family). She smiles slyly at me, she looks really cute when she does so I return the smile. “Hey,” I whisper to her.
“Hi,” she says timidly and blushes as I look into those beautiful eyes of hers. “What?” she asks.
“You have such beautiful eyes, Lucia,” I murmur softly to her. Her blush deepens.
The mass then starts so she doesn’t have a chance to say anything back to me. After the mass we both stand at the same time and I ask, “Are you doing anything later?”
“What time later exactly?”
“Well actually,” I rub the back of my neck, “I was thinking more now-ish. If you want to I mean,” I look into her eyes; getting lost the sharp pigment of the blue.
“Yeah sure,” she smiles up at me.
I can’t help it I take her small, soft, porcelain like hand in my own and we walk out the church holding hands. Out of the corner of my eye I see her soft smile as she gazes down at our intertwined fingers.
I feels so good to wrap my hand around hers. I wonder what it would be like to wrap my arms around her slender waist and pull her to my chest; the anticipation of this happening warms my insides and sends adrenaline rushing throughout my veins.
“Where are we going?” she says breaking the comfortable silence.
“Some where I like to go to get away for everything.” I have been thinking for a while now if I should take her here. She softly nods in reply.
After another ten minute walk – or so we come to a stop and turn to face each other. She glances around the forest that surrounds us on one side. “It’s beautiful,” she says in awe.
“Close your eyes,” I whisper to her and she complies.
I then wrap my arms around her waist causing her to gasp aloud, “Keep your eyes closed,” I mumble to her ear then turn her around so her back is pressed to my chest. I move her hair from her neck and my lips graze her ear as I whisper, “You can open them now,” they softly kiss the spot behind her ear.
“Cain, it’s beautiful,” she says, relaxing in my arms while looking across the span of land from our spot on top of the cliff face that overlooks our little town.
She turns in my arms and wraps her arms around my neck. “Thank you,” she whispers while gazing into my eyes as I hers. Her gaze drops to my lips and back.
“Your welcome,” I say bending my head down towards hers, resting my forehead against hers. Her breath fans across my face; its sweet smell is intoxicating.
I lean forward more.
I kiss her.
