Chapter 1
Cain’s POV
“Cain!” My mum shouts for like the hundredth time. “If you don’t hurry up we are all going to de late for church!”
I hate church and when I say hate I mean hate with a passion. If it wasn’t bad enough having to life with a religious obsessed family, with the perfect older brother and little sister, having a ton of homework to do not to mention a whole project but now I have to go to some place sit there for a whole hour listening to some old guy who is about to drop down dead any minute talking about two guys who are supposed to look after the world.
I have never really be so big on the whole God thing but the idea of him trying to stop this evil guy Satan from taking over his world is pretty cool but seriously come on how can you actually believe all this crap?
“Cain White, if you aren’t down here in five seconds I taking away you x-box again and this time for a month!” My dad calls this time.
I hate it when they take away my x-box childish I know but come on that’s like the ultimate threat any parents can give!
I grab my phone and head phones and run down the stairs to find the perfect family (not including myself here) waiting for me.
“Oh what’s wrong Cain is mummy and daddy going to take away your games console?” James, my older brother who is 20 by the way, leers at me.
“Oh what’s wrong James did the police station send you back to mummy and daddy so the great and powerful lord can repent your soul?” I say to him.
“It’s not my soul that needs repenting. You’re the one who is the little man slut who likes to cry and write poems about dying.”
“One, I’m not a slut although I am a man surprising enough. Two, just because I wear black and like Fall Out Boy doesn’t mean I cry and write poems. Three, you can’t really write about dying because you don’t know what it will be like or how you will eventually die. And four Fall Out Boy are not even emo. So I think your point is moot.” He knows I have won this time because he lowers his eyes to the ground trying to avoid my smug glare.
“Could you two stop being idiots and can we go already I don’t want to be late!” My sister Summer moans.
“Let’s go! Let’s go!” Says my mum as she pushes us out the door and to the car.
The car ride is short and quiet and the whole time James avoids my eyes. HA! I really did win. He won’t even look at my face let alone my black combat boots.
We jump out the car as we pull up to the church. My family goes ahead of me and I put my head phones in to hopefully drown out the priest’s voice. I have never be caught doing this which I really thankful for.
I spot the rest of my family on one of the benches in the middle of the congregation and I walk over to join them.
Just before the altar servicers and priest walk on to the altar I can hear the door open once more. Normally we are the last to get here because we always have an argument before we leave but today it seems not.
I turn around to see a very pale girl around my age dressed in a white t-shirt, black leather jacket, black skinny jeans and black converse sit on the bench at the back.
Her pale features clash with her jet black hair and her electric blue eyes. Wow she is a hot one. I have never seen her before though and in this town everyone knows everyone’s business.
I turn and sit back in the bench ready to be bible bashed once again.
I try to concentrate on the music in my head phones but I can’t. All I can think about is the chick at the back, God she really is hot hallelujah! I have finally found one of your miracles! Ha! And I was starting to think he really didn’t excite!
I spend the hour thinking about the mystery girl. I wonder what her name is. I am pulled from my review and also from the bench to go and receive the bread and wine.
I join the queue behind the girl. I can smell a sweet but sickly scent from her. Hmmm it kind of turns me on.
She goes to take the bread and as soon as the priest dead eyes fall on to her he freezes up. What’s wrong with him? He’s freezing up and I’m hotting up.
I can hear her soft chuckle and she take the bread from his fingers and places in her mouth and turns to her right and walks past the old-crazy-cat-lady, who lives across the room from us and has about 13 cats, has the wine or as the go little church go-ers like to call it 'the blood of Christ'.
Her soft electric blue eyes fall upon me and she smiles and sweet and beautiful smile at me. Wow that smile its perfect! Her eyes soften up as they look deeply into my it’s like she is looking into my soul.
The beautiful angel takes one last look into my eyes and soul then turns and walks back to her bench.
When I get back to mine I can feel her gaze burning into my back. It’s an odd feeling to be watched but I don’t really care this girl is hot as hell!
The rest of the service goes pretty quick and I’m getting use to the feeling of her gaze. When the mass is over we get up to leave and the girl/angel stands outside the church leaning on the wall with a huge smile plastered across her beautiful face.
I take one last look at her and climb into the car. She looks at me with awe and wonder, I have got to admit it’s kind of hot.
The car pulls away from the curb and into the distance. Just before I can’t see her anymore the priest and his bible basher buddies take hold of her arm and pull her into the church. Okay that was wired.
What are they doing to her? Father Mark looked pretty pissed and she looked overly happy with herself.
For the rest of the day the girl is on my mind I can’t stop thinking about her! This is starting to get annoying.
I look up at the celling thinking about her. Its 12:24 and I can’t sleep because when I close my eyes all I can see are her electric blue eyes. God, she was beautiful.
That night I dream about her.
