7:04 am

"Jazz, wake up."
"Jazz."
"Jazz. Get up. We need to get to the hospital now.
"Why.." she muttered, pushing herself up. I shoved my phone into her face and her eyes widened.
"Yeah, now let's go."
I threw on some shorts and a T-shirt and grabbed my keys, bolting for the door. I put my hair up in a pony tail as I sped walk down the hallway with Jazz not too far behind me.
Once I had made it to my car, I started the car and drove, barely giving Jazz a chance to get in, and barely giving myself time to put a seat belt on.

7:37 am

I burst through the hospital doors, dragging Jazz behind me.
"I'm here to see Preston Arsement."
The lady nodded and gave us those hospital wristbands and told us his room number, "He's in the ICU, depending on his condition they might not let you in right now."
I darted to the elevators, hoping that they would let me in, and to my luck one had been waiting on the same floor.
I grabbed Jazz and drug her in side, frantically pressing 2nd floor button, since that's where the ICU was.
I grabbed Jazz's wrist as soon as the elevator doors opened and ran to the doors to the ICU, pressing the button so they could let me in.
"Who are you here to see?" A voice echoed through the speaker.
"Preston Arsement." I breathed.
"Patients in the ICU can only have up to two visitors at a time, I'm sorry but Preston has two visitors right now. What's your name, I can let them know your here."
"My- My names Lilly." I stuttered.
"Hey, calm down, he's gonna be okay, just breath for a second." Jazz whispered, giving me a quick hug.
The ICU doors opened, and Rob and Vikk stepped out.
"You're here!" Rob yelped, engulfing me in a hug. "Lachlan's up on the 4th floor, he wasn't hurt nearly as bad. The impact of the crash was on Preston. You can go in with Rob, I'll go up with everyone else and check on Lachlan. Preston's asleep right now, but he's been out since he got to the hospital and he might wake up soon." Vikk rambled, starting to make his way towards the elevators, Jazz followed, saying that she'll be down later to make sure Preston's okay. I followed Rob back into the ICU, getting a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Not just because of Preston but because hospitals give me an eerie feeling, especially the ICU.
Rob pushed back a curtain, then closed it again once I had followed him in.
I felt tears well up in my eyes.
Preston looked so small and vulnerable.
He was pale, bruised, cut up from the glass. There was a bandage on his forehead, that was already turning red, and another one on his left arm.
He had lots of needles stuck in his arms that were attached to machines pumping water and medicine into his blood system.
"How bad was the accident." I muttered, my eyes were still locked on Preston.
"A car ran a red light and smashed right into the spot Preston was sitting in. Lachlan was driving. The doctors said it was a miracle he lived with a small amount of injuries, let alone survived at all."
I flopped into one of the chairs, and sighed, staring at Preston.

9:01 am

"Hey, Lilly, we're heading down to get some breakfast from the cafeteria and figured you guys could use something to eat. I know you just want to be there for Preston but come eat, it'll be good for you." Jazz rambled as soon as I answered the phone. "I don't know, I'll talk to Rob. I'm pretty hungry so I'll probably head down." She responded with a quick "Alright." Before hanging up. "Rob, Jazz said everyone's going down to the cafeteria to get something to eat, you coming?" He sighed, but nodded and grabbed his phone, following me out of the ICU and to the elevators.

11:45 am

"I'm gonna head back up to Lachlan's room, I think we all deserved that break." Vikk announced, standing up and stretching. "Did we tell you Lachlan's getting released today?" Mitch chimed in.
I sighed and stood up, throwing my remaining cup away.
"That's great."
Jazz noticed my disappointment and pulled me away from the group. "Hey, remember what I said earlier, he's gonna be ok."
"Okay? Does he look okay to you?" I yelled, getting the attention from the guys.
"I think we should give her some alone time with Preston." Rob whispered to them, and they nodded, making their way towards the elevators with Jazz not too far behind.

1:32 pm

I've been sitting next to Preston and crying for about two hours now.
He didn't deserve this.
Lachlan didn't deserve this.
Why did all of the impact have to be on Preston? Why couldn't it have hit the back of the car?
I sighed and stood up, standing next to Preston. He still hadn't woken up yet.
I played with his fingers while I looked down at him, smiling at the fact that he still looked good even at his state.
"I...I love you, Preston." I squeaked, as another tear ran down my face.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything, I've just got to check on him and everything and make sure he's doing alright." A pretty nurse assured me as she started checking his machines.
I sat myself down in the chair again, finding other things to focus on.
Like the sun shining through the window, the birds tweeting away outside, the hum of the machines in the ICU, the bright lights in the hallways and the rooms, the designs on all of the curtains, the sound of typing from the nurse's desks, the- "Oh my goodness, he's waking up!"
