The night was a raining one, it was dark and storming, and it reminded Sarah of when she had first met the Goblin King, in this life. She had been so frightened of him, she still was, but now she could control her fear. It no longer ruled her.
She would never admit that when someone knocked, loudly, upon her flat's little door she nearly jumped out of her skin. Sarah had been on edge ever since she returned from the Labyrinth and him, she had been expecting him to figure a way into the mortal world ever since he heard her speak the words that bound him to his.
Sarah kept a dagger of iron by her front door, just to be safe, though she knew she would never be able to kill him, he was a part of her, but she would not be caught defenseless. Sarah looked out of the spy hole and nearly sighed in relief, if such things were not beneath her.
The door had more than one bolt to it, though she knew it would not matter to a being like the Goblin King, and it took her a moment to get the door open. When she did, the little man on the other side huddled in. His coat was soaked and he looked greatly disgruntled, but he brightened at the sight of her.
"Hello, Miss. I hope I ain't disturbing you." He declared as he ignored the sheathed dagger she held and waited to be led into the young lady's small kitchen. Sarah had discovered, upon regaining all of her memories, that she had not been an idle being.
Almost all of her past selves had left Swedish bank account with not a small amount of money in it. She had also made friends with magical beings and mortals who knew how to disappear. Some, like the little man before her, she had known since she first came to the mortal world. The little man had fled his own respective home when his home had been invaded. He was a Brownie with the gift of true sight.
The Brownie had seen through her guise and known her as she had been. Immediately, he had pledges to aid her in any possible way, for he had seen her kingdom and had known her to be a just and good queen.
Sarah had been delighted to find that he kept tabs on all of her past lives and was always on the search for her. When he found her, he would wait until she was awoken before approaching her or he would wait until she approached him.
Either way, he was a handy little man to have around.
Brownies were, by nature, creatures whom enjoyed stealing things and liked anything shiny. He had collected different...talents over the years. Talents which included forging papers to hacking into government systems and suddenly making a person appear who had never been known to the world before.
He mostly worked with helping other magical refugees find a life in the mortal world and, of course, helping Sarah throughout her many, many lives. As far as she knew, the Goblin King did not know of the Brownie and that was perfectly fine with both the Brownie and Sarah.
She doubted the Goblin King would be very pleased with the Brownie, especially if he knew that the lives Sarah did not see him were the lives the Brownie found her before he did. No, she did not believe he would be overly pleased with that discovery.
"I have an idea." The Brownie declared as Sarah moved about the cramped kitchen and readied a pot of tea. Though she had more than enough money to spare, she knew better than to spend it all and have none for a later life. Also, she made regular donations and sponsorships to different charities and, when the Goblin King would finally be ready to return to their world, she planned on donating it all.
Though she would not give the charities all the money at once, she knew better than to do that, instead she would put in her will that so much was to be anonymously donated at a time, and she was sure that her accounts could stretch out for a few centuries among the numerous charities she supported.
