Sarah knew the place where they stood, though it had taken the scenery some time to stop spinning, time Jareth took good advantage of. Waste not, want not and all that jazz.
She squeezed her eyes shut even after her feet touched solid earth, she had been trying not to remember all the times she had almost been sick while teleporting, of which the count was numerous. Sarah would later realized that though she always felt sick, she had never actually thrown up (for which the Goblin King was thankful for, what the hell would he do with a sick woman?).
Jareth, while his beloved was otherwise not-so-pleasantly distracted, took the time to place a sealing spell around them. He was not about to let any of his subjects, of all whom had terrible timing, to stumble upon them again.
"Is the world still spinning or are you getting handsy?" Sarah questioned as she cracked an eye open, though she knew her answer without opening her eyes.
"The world must still be spinning." Jareth determined with an innocent look, which really was not that innocent (she doubted it had ever been), and Sarah glowered at him as she stepped away.
"Bullshit." Sarah muttered as she looked around the little gazeebo, she recognized it from a past life, and knew his reasoning for bringing her there. The gazeebo had been one of her refuges, the goblins normally avoided it as it was in the King's private gardens and the flowers were funny tasting. Sarah thought they tasted like fresh strawberries, but she would never admit to the King that she had actually put one in her mouth.
It had also been one of the places they used to sneak away to when the goblins got far too annoying or would not give them "alone" time. A King and his beloved were rarely ever alone, but the goblins made it even more of an impossible fete.
"Vulgar words are common." Jareth declared in a sign-song voice before his grin went away with his good mood. The mercurial king one more glowered at her and Sarah resisted the urge to dig herself a hole and burry herself. The only thing that stopped her was the knowledge that he would burry himself with her, thus defeating the entire purpose of the action.
"May I question what you were thinking?" The Goblin King questioned, rhetorically, as Sarah pulled herself up to sit on the railing of the gazeebo. At the very least if he approached her she would be able to easily get over the railing and run. Not that it would do her much good but it made her feel better.
"I was thinking that I wanted to live in a little town for a little while. Small towns are charming and all that." Sarah said as she tried to avoid the topic. How the hell was she suppose to explain that a past self warned her against him...well that was actually not that hard.
"Do not be coy, it does not suit you." Jareth all but spat and Sarah was once more faced with the cold king she had known in this life.
"Fine, you want to know the truth? The whole truth and nothing but the truth?" Sarah stalled. She had to figure a way to push aside his questions, for she knew that he would try to get the information of why he had been exiled.
"Sarah." She refused to flinch at how devoid of emotion he was. She could deal with his rage, she had dealt with it in many lifetimes, but no matter how many lives she lived, she hated when he went unreadable. It was like sailing to the edge of the world that was clearly labeled "here be monsters" but otherwise uncharted.
"Alright. I had a past self remind me of why it was best to not attract the attention of the Fae." Sarah answered in as vague a way as possible. Hell, if he could do it then so could she.
"And?"
"And I decided it was best to remove myself from the situation." Sarah answered as returned his glare.
