Boys and Girls

eighth grade

(4 years later)(8th grade)

Tonight Wonshik was having a get together at his house. It was our usual gang plus three girls and this guy named Hongbin who Wonshik had recently became friends with.

Hakyeon and I arrived together and immediately latches onto Hongbin the new guy. "Hey I'm Hakyeon."

Hongbin who seems a little shy nods. "I'm Hongbin."

I nod towards him. "Hi I'm Dayoung." I bow. "Ignore Hakyeon he's overly touchy."

"Yah Yoo Dayoung!" He darts after me and I start running away laughing as I run. Whenever I run smack right into Wonshik's younger sister. Causing Hakyeon to run into me.

"Wah Dayoung! Hakyeon! Why are you always so weird?" She says moving around us. Hakyeon and I burst out laughing.

"Hey come on guys!" Jaehwan walks past us some bags of chips in his hands.

We follow after him and down into the basement where the others were. We greet the others and sit down in a circle.

We play some games before watching a movie. After Wonshik's mom went to bed and cut off our snack stash and his dad turned on the nights baseball game Jaehwan suggested a new game.

"Let's play truth or dare!" He smirks. Two of the girls squeal while the other gulps. Meanwhile I roll my eyes.

"I'll start!" One of the girls raises her hand. She turns to Wonshik. "Truth of dare."

"Dare." He smirks back.

The girl laughs, Hakyeon leans over to whisper something in her ear. She laughs and nods.

"I dare you to kiss Jaehwan on the lips." I let out a snort and high-five Hakyeon and the girl.

Wonshik groans and Jaehwan scoots away. "Do I have to?"

"Yes." Hongbin laughs.

"Ugh." He whines, meanwhile Hakyeon held Jaehwan down while Wonshik moved in.

"No!" Jaehwan lowly screeches as Wonshik quickly pecks him on the lips. He pulls back looking disgusted as ever. "Why me?"

The round moves on consisting of Jaehwan having to kiss one of the girls, and then Hongbin having to kiss the girl to his right. And then it was my turn.

"Wonshik, truth or dare?" I ask him.

"Dare." He sighs.

I smirk. "I dare you to go sneak us some more snacks down here!"

He smirks. "I like the way you think." He quickly stands and stealthy walks up the stairs. A few minutes later he returns successfully with two more bags of chips and a thing of cookies.

I smile in victory. Yes! I immediately dig into the bag of chips as the round moved on.

When it came to Jaehwan he smirks towards me. "Dayoung, truth or dare?"

"Dare." I say, all of Jaehwan's dares were easy so far.

"Kiss Hakyeon." He bites his lips a grin forming on his face.

I shrug. "Okay." I drop the chip bag and lift Hakyeon's hand to my lips quickly pressing a kiss on it.

I smirk up at Jaehwan. "Yah that's cheating!"

"You didn't specify where!" I retort sticking my tongue out at him.

"She's right." Hakyeon laughs.

"You guys are no fun!" He whines shaking around.

After that night Hongbin became close friends with us and even sat with us at lunch. He even started talking to the girl he kissed at Wonshik's get together and they started dating shortly after.

About two weeks after his get together I started my period and that was the worst day of my life. I was supposed to go swimming with them all but it was all ruined!

"Mom why do I have to be a girl?" I whine laying my head on the kitchen counter.

"Yah Hakyeon why'd Hongbin have to have the pool party this weekend?" I lay my head on his shoulder.

"I don't know." He sighs patting my head. "I can stay with you if you want." He pulls away.

I sigh. "No that's okay go ahead."

"No, we can just stay here and watch movies and eat chocolate!" He laughs.

I smile. "You really want to stay?"

He nods. "Mrs. Yoo can you tell my mom that I don't need a ride to Hongbin's now." A warm feeling erupts in my chest.

She nods and smiles at the two of us weirdly.

"What?" I mutter towards her.

"Nothing." She smirks at me.

That same night we rested on my couch watching the credits roll my back pain was gone now that I've taken some medicine.

"Thanks for staying with me." I sigh resting my head on his shoulder.

"What are best friends for?" He chuckles. "Speaking of best friends."

"Hmm?" I pull back to look him in the eyes.

His eyes were lowered. "Well you see I have a favor to ask of you."

I nod. "What is it?"

"Well you see Jaehwan and the others already have had their first kiss. And they keep teasing me about how I haven't had mine yet." He admits which I already knew.

"Yeah." I nod. "Did you want me to dare a girl to kiss you at the next party then?"

He shakes his head no. "No, Jaehwan says it was super awkward kissing that one girl."

"Then what?" I say confused.

"Well I was hoping," He awkwardly rubs at the back of his neck. "That ugh-this is so awkward because I don't want to make things too awkward."

I laugh. "Make what awkward?"

He sighs. "Can we just lose our first kisses to one another?"

Oh. My eyebrows scrunch together at the thought. I mean kissing Hakyeon? Wouldn't that be weird?

"I mean I trust you." He starts up again his cheeks bright red. "And I know that if I suck at kissing you'll tell me. Plus I mean wouldn't it better losing it to each other someone we trust?"

I nod to myself. I mean I guess it wouldn't be too bad to kiss him. I trust him.

"Okay." I nod my eyes darting up to meet with his.

This felt odd because I never imagined kissing Hakyeon. But then again I felt super relaxed because again it was Hakyeon.

He leans in the cushions on the couch sinking in with his weight. With his eyes locked with mine, a pounding starts inside my chests. This was so weird!

I felt his breath on my nose and I shiver, at this point I begin to close my eyes because I too had begun leaning in to return the kiss.

Once our lips met it was a bit awkward. We didn't know what to do. Our noses bumped into each other once before I finally moved my hands to his chin to guide him the right way. After that our lips locked and the kiss wasn't so bad.

He didn't put too much pressure in or anything. It was perfect to say the least.

He pulls away shortly after breath uneven.

"Was it okay?" He asks quickly.

I nod. "Yes." I pull back away from him. "Wait you aren't going to tell the others that we kissed right?"

He shakes his head no. "But now I at least I can tell them I've had my first kiss." He grins a smug look on his face.

I roll my eyes. Boys.

We put in another movie and shortly after I fell asleep.
