(SPOILERSSSS)

"Kill that bastard," Astrid said darkly to you.

You had read all of Cicero's journals, and found out he was hiding out in the Dawnstar Sanctuary with the Night Mother. He had attacked Veezara, and Astrid, and Arnbjorn had gone after him.

"And find my husband. Make sure he's okay," she added as you turn to leave, listening to Babette tend to your injured Argonian brother. You nod, and head out.

Oh, but Astrid is wrong now. Astrid is the pretender. Poor Cicero was right.

In return, you know you won't kill him.

You travel to Dawnstar mounted on a horse more loyal than Astrid by the name of Shadowmere, and are greeted by Arnbjorn bloodied and injured on the ground. He explains that Cicero is good with a butter knife, but the wolf-blood snagged the jester well before he escaped into the Sanctuary, which by the passcode your brother was oblivious to.

Since you read Cicero's journals, you know the passcode, so you convince Arnbjorn to go back to the Sanctuary while you deal with Cicero. Poor, poor Cicero, how you feel pitty for him.

What's.. what's that noise? Laughing? But.. but from where? Your head? The Void? Where?

It's familiar. It's Cicero's laughter.

You smile, and begin to chuckle along. Snapping out of it, you head for the Black Door.

"What is life's greatest illusion?" It asks.

"Innocence, my brother," you respond with a slight smirk. Soon, you will be reunited with the jester that shared your state of mind.

"Welcome home."

You enter the Sanctuary. You hear Cicero's laughter, more clearer now. You smile slightly, and head down the steps. You're greeted by a table to the side, a full jester's costume sitting on it, almost speaking your name.

Instinctively, you change out of your Shrouded Armor, and put the jester's clothes on.

"Oh... mm.. yes," you hear Cicero's chuckle. Not from the room, but from your head. He seems to be able to sense you, see you, almost. "The Listener is so.. sweet looking. Like... a sweet roll. Yes," he gives a laugh, and you blush. Of course, he saw you change. He watched you, happily, peeling off your armor slowly, revealing skin you've never shown to anyone...

You head out of the room, and look around. To your right, it almost looks like a shrine. To your left, a dried out garden. Next to it, a door way. In front of you are stairs, and as you watch, the metal bars slide down back into the floor, allowing access. Smiling, you skip down the stairs, and open the door at the bottom. Cicero is there, bleeding.

You rush to him, and he laughs. "Oh Listener, you are here. You believe poor Cicero, don't you? About Astrid?"

You nod, giving him a smirk. "I will strangle Astrid with her own intestines. She is a fraud, we must serve the Night Mother and Sithis by the Old Ways."

Cicero smiles, and his grin grows as he notices your apparel, and how you both match.

You tend to his wounds, clean him up, and stand him.

"Listener..." Cicero looks at you, a new emotion clouded in his eyes. You look up at him, raising your eyebrow. "I am the Keeper. I cannot lift a blade, no, no it's not Cicero's job. You must kill Astrid, you can complete contracts. Oh, how Cicero wishes to accompany his Listener."

His Listener. He claims you as his own. How heartwarming.

You smile at him, and peck his nose gently. "It shall be done, my Fool of Hearts."

He smiles, his forehead on yours. Slowly, his hand takes yours, and his other hand is placed at your waist. Your free hand is placed on his shoulder, and the two of you begin to dance around the room, humming your own tune.

And of course, the Night Mother approves. Oh, she approves all right.

Happy hunting.
