Recap:

An hour later, we headed over to the reception that was in a mom-and-pop hotel just around the corner from the chapel. Beth and Greg were announced first and Emma and Charlie and Tori and Aaron followed. Levi and I stood outside of the doors to the room where our reception was and waited for our announcement; Levi tangled his fingers in mine and squeezed my hand. I looked up at him and he leaned down and kissed me lightly on the lips.

“And now . . . introducing our newly married, happy couple. Please put your hands together for them: Mr. and Mrs. Levi Kacka!” Levi and I heard my eldest brother, Jake, announce.

Levi and I walked in hand-in-hand to a crowd full of cheering friends and family. I looked over at Levi who was beaming with a smile as wide, if not wider, than mine. I could see that he was really and truly happy. He was ecstatic. And he was mine, officially mine. I saw Levi glance at me so I nudged him slightly with my shoulder. At that, he nudged me back then slipped his hand around my waist and picked me up from under my knees and I screeched as everyone laughed at us. Levi twirled me around once and then kissed me quickly, making the all of the girls respond with an “Awwww.” I giggled as he put me back down on my feet, keeping his arm around my waist.

“Alright, we’re gonna get started with dinner and then we will truly get this party started!” Jake announced to the crowd, so everyone headed to their seats and dinner got started.  After dinner, Jake got back up to the mic.

“It is now time for the traditional father-daughter dance. Mr. Harms, Mrs. Kacka, the floor is yours.”

Daddy got up from the table and came over to my seat and bowed, taking my hand in his. I stood up and he led me to the dance floor as the music began. He placed his hand on my waist and held my hand in his as I draped my other on his shoulder. We began to dance to our song, “Butterfly Kisses.”

Both of our eyes began to fill with tears as I lay my head on his shoulder and the final verse began.

She’ll change her name today

She’ll make a promise and I’ll give her away

Standing in the bride room just staring at her

She asked me what I’m thinkin’

And I said I’m not sure

I just feel like I’m losing my baby girl

“I said this before, and I’ll say it again: I will always be your little girl,” I said quietly on Dad’s shoulder.

And she leaned over

Gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there

Stickin’ little white flowers all up in her hair

Walk me down the aisle, daddy

It’s just about time

Does my wedding gown look pretty, daddy?

Daddy don’t cry

As it wrapped up, Dad began to hum along to the final four lines: lines that I knew he truly meant.
