-Xander's Point of View-

I walked across the courtyard, heading towards the rose garden. I had left Vladmir less than an hour ago, but time seemed to drag. This was a new feeling for me. It almost reminded me of the feeling Thames says he has when Mackenzie isn't around for a few days. It's almost like an emptiness.

"Where have you been all day, Xander?" Scarlette asked after I set foot into the greenhouse. I was surprised she was here. She had practically scared me.

"Town. I went to go talk to the tailor. Somehow I ripped a hole in my jacket yesterday," I said, picking at the flaw that had been there for a quite a while now. I wasn't about to tell her that though, that would give my secret away.

"Oh," she said, picking a blood red rose off the vine, "I've been here all day. This reminds me of home. We have a vast rose garden that you can see the ocean from," she sighed, eyes looking lost.

I walked towards her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "You're a long way from home, aren't you?"

She turned around and blinked for a moment before nodding, "I came here though to get married off. I might as well get used to it, right?" Her question hung in the air like clothes hung out to dry in the wind.

Technically. I hadn't picked her to be my bride. Yes, I was courting her, but I was also courting Prince Rayne. My parents were hoping that I would take in Scarlette and so far I had, but was she really meant to be my true love? Right now, I had a stronger connection to Vladmir than her. The male was the one my heart was singing its song for.

"Xander," Scarlette asked staring at me and I snapped out of my trance and looked her in the eyes.

"What?"

"You still here?" She asked wrapping her fingers around my hand and squeezing it lightly, her nails pressing into the skin. She was wearing gloves today, but I could still feel them slightly.

"I am. Just thinking," I said softly.

"You know, we're the only two royals at the castle right now. We could have a bit of fun," she whispered stroking her fingers along my neck. My face was heating up at the gentle, yet wonderful feeling.

"Where are my parents?" I asked and she ran her hand along my skin, making it heat up at her fragile, lusting touch.

"They went to the other kingdom around here. The Rayne Kingdom? Something like that?" She said, acting like she was confused on the name. If Vladmir's story had not been a lie, then she would have known that was where they had went for the day.

My heart was beating rapidly against my chest. I knew that if my parents had went there, they meant business. I don't exactly know what started the fight between the two families, but I know there was a war when I was younger and King Rayne had died in battle. I'm just hoping that Vlad knows what happened to his father and that it wasn't kept from him.

"What do you say, Prince? Spend some time with me?" She asked, leaning down so that I could almost see straight down her chest. Her lips were pouted, begging for me to agree as she batted her dark eyelashes. Seduction sat in her green eyes. She was wanting me to fall under her spell.

"What did you have in mind?" I asked and she sighed, hiding her thought, trying to keep me guessing. She knew how to play this game with me.

"I'm sure you can guess, Xander Davey," she said, wrapping her arms around my neck and I picked her up and began to carry her out of the greenhouse and towards with castle filled with servants and maids, ignoring the small buzzing thought in the back of my mind about my parents and Vladmir.
