27: Lullaby

Eleonora couldn't get Claire to go to bed. She told Steve that she would be able to get Claire to sleep but Claire was wide awake. Eleonora would bounce her gently and hum softly but nothing seemed to be working. She looked over at Tyler seeing him still fast asleep in his crib. He had been pretty tired and went to sleep rather fast.

Eleonora sighed and decided to do what she thought of next. She went back to her and Steve's room with Claire in her arms. Eleonora walked over at sat down on the bed next to Steve. Steve looked over wondering if Eleonora needed some help, "Do you need any help?"

"No..." Eleonora mumbled before she softly hummed. Soon her soft humming turned into soft singing. Eleonora couldn't help but sing the lullaby that Peggy use to sing to her when she would spend the night at Peggy's house. The lullaby would always put Eleonora to sleep without a problem. She wondered if it would work on her daughter since it use to work on her.

Eleonora smiled when she stopped singing and looked at her daughter to see she was fast asleep in her arms. Eleonora smiled and kissed her daughter's head softly. Yet Claire wasn't the only one asleep. Eleonora heard a small snoring sound and looked over to where Steve was. He was fast asleep with his book laying on his chest. Eleonora chuckled before she got up and went to the nursery putting Claire into her crib and laying a blanket over her.

Eleonora headed back into her and Steve's room and gently took the book off his chest and put the book mark in it's place. She closed the book and set it on the bedside table with a smile. She softly kissed Steve's cheek before pulling up the covers over him so he could be comfortable. Eleonora smiled and went over to her side before climbing into the bed next to Steve. She closed her eyes and felt herself drift asleep with a smile on her face.

The next morning, Eleonora woke up and rolled over before getting out of bed. She put on a white t-shirt and some black sweatpants. She pulled back her hair before heading into the nursery. She got Tyler and Claire out of their cribs before taking them into the living room. She set the two of them into their own baby bouncers and played the music that would keep them calm so they didn't cry.

Eleonora went into the kitchen and started to make breakfast. She got the bottles ready for the twins and made some pancakes for Steve. She heard the sound of Steve's bare feet padding the floor as he walked into the kitchen. Steve smiled and walked over to Eleonora wrapping his arms around her waist. He hugged her and kissed her cheek softly.

"That lullaby was beautiful last night. You're a good singer" Steve said going over to the cabinet getting himself a cup before he opened the fridge getting the orange juice. Steve poured himself a cup of orange juice before putting the jug of juice back into the fridge and he closed the fridge. He looked at Eleonora, "where did you learn it from?"

"Peggy use to sing it to me when I was little" Eleonora said before she heard Steve's phone go off. She took Steve's phone off the charger and tossed it to him. Thankfully he caught it or it would've gone into his glass of orange juice. Steve smiled at Eleonora before he looked at his phone.

We need you to come in. We found another base~ Tony

Steve looked up at Eleonora before he looked back down to his phone. He typed a message to reply to Tony.

I'm on my way~ Steve

Steve put his phone into his pocket and went over to Eleonora before he drank the rest of his orange juice, "I gotta go. I'll be back soon. I promise." He kissed her cheek before he rushed to the bedroom to get his suit on.

Eleonora sighed and turned off the stove. She grabbed the twins's bottles before she went over to the twins to feed them. When Steve came back in wearing his suit with his shield on his back, Eleonora looked up at him.

"Be careful out there, Steve."

"I will."
