Chapter 2

I woke up at the ass crack of dawn, otherwise known as six AM. In all the movies the sun is out and shining, and the kids all have time to eat breakfast every morning, it's all a lie! I'm lucky if I get up with enough time to throw on an outfit that's actually presentable, much less eat breakfast.

Fortunately, after my Aunt brought me lunch yesterday we were able to make a run to the store. I desperately needed to buy new toiletries seeing as all of mine were literally burned to ash. We also stopped by the mall so that I could pick out some clothes, because I only managed to salvage a few items.

I hadn't heard much about my school other than the fact that thankfully it didn't require you to wear a uniform. With all the fancy houses around here I figured that the place would be would be some prestigious academy. Apparently there is one of those near here, but most of the kids opted out of going there according to Tori because, "the guys were hotter at Haven."

After I finally pulled myself out of bed I managed to make my way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. I took a quick shower then got out and dried myself off. Here in California the weather was pretty nice in late march, so Tori said all the girls basically just start wearing summer clothes. I decided to wear a cute beige romper and gladiator sandals, and prayed that she wasn't exaggerating about the nice weather. I put some curl enhancing Shea Moisture products in my hair, threw on some mascara and lipgloss, and I was ready to go.

I glanced at the clock and saw that it was seven o'clock and ran downstairs to meet up with Tori. I heard some ruckus in the kitchen so it was obvious that someone managed to eat breakfast this morning.

I walked down to see Charles and Aunt Lacie sitting at the counter sipping coffee. They both glanced up and smiled.

"Goodmorning hope you slept well Hun." My aunt says maintaining her smile.

"Thanks I did. That bed is super comfortable, like I'm honestly starting to think that mine burning wasn't such a bad thing after all." I said with a laugh. My aunt and Charles gave an awkward laugh because it was kind of morbid.

Tori ran obviously in a rush and said, "Come on Vera we're going to be late! Well not late per-say since it's only like five minutes away, but I wanted a chance to introduce you to some of my friends!"'she says as she hightails it outside.

I follow along quickly because I wouldn't be surprised if in her rush she forgets that I'm meant to be riding with her. Even though I'm eighteen, I still didn't have a car. I have my license and everything, but because of the divorce my mom couldn't afford to get me a car right away.

By the time I reach the car, Tori is already buckled in and wearing her Chanel shades. She has a Camaro that is literally to die for. I get in the passenger seat and barely have time to buckle in before she's already pulling off.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Tori says inquisitively as she glances over at me.

"Nope, but even if I did, it wouldn't really last much longer seeing as I moved hundreds of miles away." I say with a dry laugh. "Why, do you have one?"

She lets out a loud laugh as if what I said was crazy. "I could have just about any guy in school, why limit myself to just one?" She says with a smirk. "I'm glad you don't have one though, there's plenty of eligible guys that I know you'll be just perfect with!"

I smile, but roll my eyes a bit. At my old school most of the guys were decent looking, but nothing special. Kyle had a nice build and a relatively attractive face, but he didn't exactly soak my panties if you know what I mean. I don't expect this place will be too much different.

Well one things for sure, Haven may not be the most elite school in the area-- but it's obvious that it has some loaded donors. The place was gigantic! At my old school the football field was off campus, and we only really had a soccer and baseball field. This place had acres of lush green grass and designated areas for every sport you could imagine. Too bad I'm the least involved person ever. It must be nice for the people that are actually athletic though.
