The rest of the week went by uneventfully. I didn't really know anyone in my classes, so I mainly kept to myself besides when I had to associate with my classmates for an assignment.
The cafe, thankfully, didn't get robbed the rest of the week. Apparently it was a first time event for the place, and although it was in a good area, the cops started surveying regularly to try to prevent any thefts or robberies.
It was Thursday afternoon and we all decided that we should go get pedicures to relax after a long week. We're all supposed to meet at Stella'a house, but she had detention after school so she just told us to go ahead of her to her house and wait for her to arrive. Since she lived in a fancy neighbourhood I guess she assumed the crime rate was low enough to not have to worry about leaving the door unlocked, so she told us we'd be able to just walk in.
Stella's dad wasn't really around most of the time because he's a doctor and works long hours. Her mom passed away, but apparently came from old money so she left the family a huge amount of money after her passing. Tori needed to get something from the house so she took us home right after school.
"Ugh I can't find my nerf gun anywhere!" Tori said with a groan.
"People still play with nerf guns?" I inquired with a slight grin.
Tori rolled her eyes. "No not typically, but Stella said her brother Levi is going to be at her house, and we sort of have this rivalry going on." She explained.
"So every time you guys see each other you shoot each other with nerf guns?"
"No, he just always thinks he can beat me at everything. It's annoying that he doesn't recognise how talented I obviously am, so I give him an ass-whooping every now and then."
"So the nerf guns come in how..?" I said lifting an eyebrow.
"We were talking about playing with them when we were younger, and he implied his skills were better than mine, so of course, I took it as a challenge."
"You don't strike me as a formidable opponent." I said with a laugh.
"Well that's why he doesn't know I'm coming over. I purposely told Stella not to mention it. He won't be there when we arrive, he has detention with Stella since they both got caught smoking on school grounds. After they get home, I'll just pop out and sneak attack him!" She said with an evil grin.
"Where does Stella even live?" I asked curiously.
"Just down the road, we probably don't even need to drive since it's still so nice out."
"Really? Well I'm just going to go ahead of you then. Stella said her dad always has the house stocked with snacks, and I'm super hungry." I said just as my stomach rumbled.
Tori let out a giggle when she heard the sound. "Alright, whatever. Just walk to your left until you get to to the all white house." Tori said now rifling through a large bin in her closest, and making quite a mess if I do say so myself.
"Okay well I'm out. Make sure you clean up your mess. I won't be able to steal clothes from your closet if I can't even walk in it." I said in a disgusted tone.
"Hm maybe I should leave it like it is then." She said with a laugh. I stuck my tongue out at her, and then turned and walked downstairs. My mom was currently applying for different jobs, and her parents were still at work so the place was pretty empty.
Once I left the house, Stella's house was only about three minute walk away. I figured I was at the right place when I saw a house fitting the description Tori gave me. I glanced at the driveway and saw a familiar looking car- I think it was Lee's? I hadn't really ridden in her car, but I think I remember her driving away in the one that was currently in the driveway.
