I notice Kaito is holding something behind his back.
"Oh, this is a get-well gift." Kaito tells me.
"Really?" He smiles at me and hands me a big sake bottle. "What's inside this bottle? Sake?"
"It's sweet sake, amazake, an extra-mild one."
"Amazake?"
"Huh? You must have had it before, no?"
"Yes... but, why amazake?"
"Everyone drinks it in the Summer Village when they are worn out. It's really nutritious, and it prevents you from getting summer fatigue."
"I see. I didn't know that."
"I know you don't have much appetite now, but I'm sure you can take this. I'm not much of a cook, but... I can at least make this on my own."
"What...? You made this for me?"
"Yeah... it's nothing. Almost all the people from the Summer Village can make it. Even kids."
"Wow... Still, I'm so happy!" I clap my hands once and give him a smile.
I don't want him to worry about me so much... I should pretend to be energetic.
"Alright! Go ahead!" he says.
"OK."
He pours me some amazake, and I take a sip. I automatically have a smile on my face.
"Mmm, it's delicious!"
"Yeah?"
"It is! This will surely make me get better!" I say excitedly, to which he reaches his hand out and ruffles my hair. "Whoa!"
"Please don't overdo it, alright? If something ever happens to you, I will-" His sorrowful eyes make my chest hurt.
"Kaito..."
"Please stay well for me... Alright, [Y/N]?"
"OK." I look at him straight in the eye and give a little nod.
"[Y/N]..."
"Mm... Kaito..." He slowly lowers me to my futon. "Uh... Wai-t..." He is about to bend over me, when-
"[Y/N]! Are you alright!?" Ran walks into the room with a loud voice.
"Shoot!" Kaito says.
Flustered, we pretend like nothing happened, but Ran looks at us, tilting his head in question.
"Huh? What were you guys doing?"
"Uh-oh..." Shiroya says. "I'm sorry, you guys."
"We tried to stop Ran, since we knew you were gonna make out, but..." Rindoh says.
"You know Ran doesn't listen to other people that much, so..."
"M-Make ou-... what?" I say.
Wait, do they... by any chance... know about Kaito and me?
I look at Kaito and he shrugs his shoulders, rolling his eyes.
"Remember what Ayu said to us in the Spring Village?" Kaito tells me. "He said Mr. Rin told him all sorts of things about girls... Which means, you know..."
The fact that even Shiroya knows about us makes me feel indescribable.
"See, I told you, Ran!" Rindoh shouts. "It's nonsense to bother a couple's date."
