Bethany's P.O.V
When I got home, I nearly crashed into someone when I went to go upstairs. I looked up. It was the one person I both didn't and did want to see.
"Maxwell. What're you doing here?"
"I came to visit you, Bethany. But something came up so I have to go."
He smiled and left. He called me Bethany... I feel even more guilty for saying what I said back then. I felt like crying again.
When I entered my room, I noticed a a silver box on my desk with a note attached. It said,
Dear my—no—used to be sweet little Bea,
I'm happy you found someone. But I want you to know what're doing is a mistake. Johnny isn't the boy in the picture. I thought you would notice that the real boy in the picture was always right in front of you. But you didn't. You told me you hated me. I'm telling you that I love you, and I never stopped loving you for 12 years. It hurts to know that you moved on with an impostor who's being paid to be the boy. I have a feeling the person who's paying him is your mother. Considering that I overheard her conversation on the phone. She said,
"Now don't mess this up. I don't want my daughter hurt by that Maxwell."
She thinks I'll hurt you, just like what my father did. But I promised myself that I wouldn't, and couldn't keep that promise.I'm sorry.

P.S - Tomorrow, I'm going back home. My mom thinks it's for the best. (Also, if I'm wrong about your mother, I'm sorry.) If you want to say goodbye, I'll wait for you at the bridge.
