A/N: I didn't think this chapter was that good, but I'm trying to post at least once a day, so here it is. Also, thank you for the big change in reads from the day before yesterday to today. It wasn't a hundred or anything like that, but it was amazing how quickly you guys got it up.
Barcelona, Spain- 17 years old
"What do you think I should do, Ki?" Jade asked in a pained voice.
"To be honest, I think you should try to go see him. Hang out with him to persuade him that he doesn't get to make decisions for you." She said in a soft voice and Jade nodded.
"Then that's what I'll do." Jade stated firmly before getting up to speak to her mother in the living room.
"Mamá?" She whispered to her mother's stiff figure on the couch. Her mom didn't turn around or make any indication she heard her, so Jade continued.
"Lo siento, madre. I know you were just trying to help Leo, and I'm sorry for yelling at you, but you shouldn't have kept me from something like this." She stated a bit louder from the doorway. Her mom finally swung around and looked up at her daughter,
"I know. I also know that sooner or later you'd like to go meet him, so I'm going to give you his phone number and maybe you guys can work something out." She smiled faintly.
"Really?" Her mother nodded and Jade ran up to her, throwing her arms around her neck, "Thank you, mom. I'll go get my phone." And she rushed to her room to find her phone and bring it back.
Her mother recited the digits she read from her phone and Jade punched them in, triple-checking to make sure they were the correct ones. Her smile grew wide as she thought about meeting with her former best friend and what he would think about her now.
Giving her mom a quick kiss on the cheek, she calmed herself down so she could tell Kila the news without screaming or speaking too fast. She bursted through her room door, smiling to Kila and wiggling her phone in the air.
"I got his number!"
"Really? What are you gonna say to him?" Kila's questioned spiked the beginning of many more questions in Jade's head that she didn't think about previously. Will he even want to see me? What if he's totally different than when he left? What if he doesn't like me anymore?, were just a few of them.
Jade shrugged, deflated as she opened a new chat with the boy that left her. Thinking for a few minutes, she finally decided on sending one thing.
Hey. Of course, she wanted to make sure Leo would answer first when she told him it was her instead of some random person with the wrong number.
Who is this? She received the notification with a ding a few moments later. Her nerves grew as she thought of what to type next, but of course, she just went simple.
It's Jade, she sent.
Jade who? Leo had to ask to make sure. He didn't know any other Jade, but it was too good to be her. Of course, Jade took this as a bad sign, thinking he forgot about her already. Looking over her shoulder, Kila stared right back at her, her face blank. Well, so much for the help, she thought.
Jade Ruiz. From Argentina. she had clarified and Leo's heart leapt. He didn't think she would even want to think about him after he left like that and after he told her how he felt.
Oh, he sent back. He didn't what else to say, but he quickly realized how mean that might've sounded so he started typing up another response.
As soon as the word appeared on her screen, she sighed. He doesn't want to talk to me, she thought, but she ceased when she saw the second bubble, loading while he was typing. Kila held her breath as they waited, not wanting her best friend to experience any pain because she knew how much this meant to her. She had listened to Jade talk about him too many times to count, but each time she looked so happy.
I'm sorry, that probably seemed rude. Did Deanna give you my number? His apology made Jade release a breath she didn't know she was holding and she sent her answer seconds later.
Yeah, I was just really excited. I was thinking we could meet up sometime and catch up. Jade was hoping that didn't sound too forward or annoying and Kila reassured her with a thumbs up and a rub of the back.
That sounds great, Leo wanted to send, but he couldn't decide between using the period or the exclamation mark. After a few seconds, he chose the former, afraid of sounding too excited. He smiled as he reread the text she had sent, happy his best friend and love was excited about seeing him again.
His happiness was short-lived, though, because soon, his coach had busted into the locker room, scolding half of the team for being late to practice. Again.
Hey, I gotta go to practice, but call me tomorrow so we can talk and plan things out a little bit. He read over it once, deciding it was good enough and pressed enter before putting his phone back in his bag and running out to practice.
Jade almost exploded with emotion, most of it being excitement. She couldn't wait for tomorrow or the day that they'd plan on meeting up.
Kila, being the best friend she could possibly be, she jumped up and started hopping around in circles with Jade. She was genuinely excited for her and proud that she made it through that.
"You did it!" They high-fived.
"I can't believe it! I'm finally going to see Leo!" They both continued screaming and jumping until they heard a loud bang on the door and jerked to a stop.
"Shut up! We're trying to watch a movie!" Alonso yelled through the door while Martín grumbled something about them being 'total girls'.
Kila and Jade just giggled and jumped around again, earning a simultaneous groan from both boys.
