-Melody's P.O.V-

I plopped myself into the car, right next to my 21-year-old sister.

Thank god it's not my mom. I thought to myself as I quietly buckled my seatbelt.

"Hi, Tashi."

I said to her nervously shoving my fucked up phone into the depths of my back pocket.

She looked at me, with a small grin on her face. She could obviously tell I was hiding something.

"You fucked your phone up. Didn't you?" she said, turning from the school.

My eyes widen in awe, baffled to know that she knew right on the dot. "How the fuck did you knew?!"

She chuckled, shaking her head slowly. "The guilt on your face was too obvious. I had the same face back when I was in high school." She turned her glance towards me smiling and turns her head again to look at the road. "Your sure as hell lucky that I wasn't mom. She would be able to pick it up as well"

I exhale in relief, sinking back into my seat. "So... How did it turn out for you when you faced mom?"

"Didn't turned out swell when she saw my phone"

"How so?"

" She gave me a long ass lecture about it of course"

I raise an eyebrow. "That's it?"

She made another turn and slowed down the car to a complete stop at a traffic light. "Fuck no."

"what else happened?"

"well..." she continued. "On the very same day, it was also when I decided to wear short shorts, and of course, mom wasn't having that.

"So when I was out to go to the movies with some friends that day she sent dad with me wearing the shortest skirt I have ever seen. And if that wasn't bad enough, he was wearing a shirt that said 'my daughter is irresponsible written in the back"

I bit the side of my cheeks, stopping myself from cracking up, "did dad really do that?" I quickly asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"hell yeah, I still have the pictures. Apparently, our parents have a sense of fucking humor."

I giggle quietly against my palm, but amusement quickly vanished and grimaced. "Too bad he's gone now to laugh about it together."

Tashi looked at me and sighed, as we finally pulled up towards our house. "Yeah... I sure do miss the old bastard"

It was like a memory all over again. When just a simple phone call, could be his last.  He called us up that he knocked off from work early, and excited to tell us about his new promotion at the warehouse.

Until a massive shooting was reported on the news later that day.

And the next thing I knew, we all would be looking at my father in a body bag.

I choked back tears. It was getting really depressing as I and Tashi sat in silence.

"I'll see you inside I guess..."  I said, opening the door of the car.

"Alright..." she turns off the car and pulls the keys from the ignition.

"Oh and Melody."

I turn to face her after I stepped out the car.

"Good Luck with mom."
