*one-shot for Allison*

[y/f/n] stands for your friend’s name

this takes place way back before they were touring and stuff. like when they were still normal kids in high school and only famous on youtube (:

"No, [y/f/n]! I am not going to that stupid party!" You yelled at your friend over the phone as you put your laundry away in your bedroom.

"Why not? I don’t understand!"

"Because he’ll be there," you reminded her as you remembered your x-boyfriend from your first year of high school. You’ve been broken up for two years now. You never see each other anymore since you don’t have any classes together. About a month after you broke up, he joined a band with some of his friends. They make YouTube videos now, and they will be doing a small performance at some popular kid’s party tonight. The one your friend wants you to go to.

"Calum Hood? Oh my gosh, Allison! You need to suck it up! You’ve been over for two years now! I thought you didn’t have feelings for him anymore?"

"I-I don’t…I don’t think I do…" You keep trying to tell yourself you’re over Calum, but you can’t help but wonder if those feelings never left.

"What!?"

"I mean I don’t! Totally over him! You’re right. Let’s go tonight. I’ll pick you up in fifteen." You told her.

"Alright."

When you arrived at the party with [y/f/n], it had been going on for a couple of hours. There were quite a few kids there. Drinking of course.

"Ah," [y/f/n] nudged you on the shoulder, pointing to a tall boy with blonde, curly hair. He was standing next to another boy, whom you knew, with light brown hair: Michael Clifford. You recognized both of them from Calum’s band. They were chatting, but neither Calum or the other boy were anywhere in your sight.

"I’m gonna go talk to curly," [y/f/n] assured you, as she stepped away.

"Yeah! No problem! I’ll just stay right here by myself!" she didn’t hear you as she was already gone. She’s always been confident when it came to boys. She’s had plenty of boyfriends, but you’ve only ever dated Calum.

You stumbled through the sweaty bodies to find a drink. The smell of sweat and alcohol filling your lungs. You glanced over and saw [y/f/n] chatting it up with the curly-haired boy. She’s such a charm.

You finally came across a drink table in the back hallway. You grabbed for a liter of Sprite, skipping over the alcohol. You’re not really quite as rebellious as most kids your age are. Sure you’ve tried it once, but you didn’t like the fuzzy feeling a few glasses gave you. You grabbed a cup and began pouring the soda into it.

"I wouldn’t drink that if I were you." you gasped and looked up to a beautiful pair of brown eyes glistening in the dim light, "Some people here like to spike drinks." He said, tossing you an unopened bottle of water.

"Calum." you said, breaking the seal on the bottle, "haven’t seen you in ages."

"I know. How’ve you been?"

"Fine. Busy. You?"

"I’m pretty good." You didn’t think you’d ever been in such an awkward situation before in your life.

"So…How’s the band?"

"It’s fun! Yeah we’ve actually got quite a lot of fans on YouTube. People really like us." His thoughts made him smile, "I’m sure you’ve been up to some pretty exciting things too?"

You thought. And thought. Nothing as exciting as Calum’s story came to mind, “Not really,” you spoke slowly, slightly embarrassed.

"Calum!" A blonde-headed boy whom you recognized as the fourth member of their band entered the almost empty kitchen, "Where’ve you been? Everyone wants us to perform now."

"Alright, Luke. Be there in a sec."

Calum watched as the boy excited, then turned to you, “You gonna watch us?”

"Um, yeah." you stuttered.

"Cool. C’mon." He grabbed your hand, and you felt sparks where your skin made contact with his. He must have felt them too, because he paused for a moment to look you in the eyes before leading you into the living room where they would perform.

Calum released your hand and made his way over to the rest of his band, “Hi, I’m Calum.”

"I’m Ashton," said the boy that [y/f/n] was talking to earlier.

"I’m Michael."

"And I’m Luke, and we are Five Seconds of Seconds, and this is our first song we wrote called Everything I Want."

Everyone clapped then went silent as Michael began to strum the guitar.

"Hey," [y/f/n] whispered as she tapped you on the shoulder coming to stand by your side, "I got curly’s number." she winked as she pointed to Ashton. You rolled your eyes at her then directed you focus to the boys as Luke began to sing the first words in the song.

You looked to Calum as he began to sing the chorus, when you realised he was staring at you. He sang every word to you, never losing contact with your eyes. It was mesmerizing.

You are everything I want, and everything I need…

When he sang the bridge he pointed at you and smiled and winked. You could swear you felt your heart skip a beat. Did Calum still like you?

…but I just wanna call you mine.

Calum sang the last line, and everyone clapped and cheered. You couldn’t draw your eyes away from him.

The cheering soon faded into chatter as the sound system turned on again. Calum got down from his stool and made his way over to you. [y/f/n] went to talk to Ashton. You saw them over in the corner making out. No surprise there.

"So what’d you think?" Calum asked as he approached you.

"It was amazing. You have a beautiful voice, Calum. I never knew you could sing like that."

"And I never thought you could look so beautiful in the dimmed light like you do in this very moment."

You blushed and looked down, but he gently grabbed your chin and pulled it up with his thumb.

"You wanna try again, Allison?"

"Let’s do it." you smiled, and he leaned forward, kissing you softly. You felt those sparks again, but this time they began in your lips and spread to your whole body. You had forgotten how wonderful it felt to kiss Calum. You silently promised yourself that you wouldn’t let him, or yourself, screw it up this time.
