Cold Hearted

Chapter 4

After Calissa picked me up from practice I decided to take Bear to the park, an apology for neglecting him these past few days. I snuck him a treat for bonus points. We walked to a wide area where I could toss around a Frisbee without being tripped by heaps of barking Chihuahuas. The snow was packed down from other dogs and dog owners who chase around a ball or a stick. Fortunately it wasn't too busy for a Saturday evening and the only people I could see were a few young girls playing tag. Finally I was alone. I had some time to myself. Between Rylan, April, and my parents I don't get enough. Now I had time to think, only one problem. I didn't want to think. Now I wished the park wasn't so empty.

Soon enough my prayers were answered when Maddy walked by.

"Hey!"

"Hi Maddy."

"So I heard you were at Drew's party last night."

Abort Mission!!!

"Yeah I made an appearance..."

"I heard you slept with Damien."

"Ew no!"

"I figured. Don't worry i set everyone straight."

A nervous laugh left my lips, the lips Damien once kisses. Damn I hate parties.

I walked into Mr.Wakers class and sat at the table in the middle. There were some beakers and bottles of chemicals off to the side. As I pulled out my Chem book I saw Kyle approaching the seat beside me.

"Alright everybody settle down. I'm giving you a project. You and you're lab partner have been given 3 chemicals. They will have a reaction when you mix the right measurements for each."

"What are the right measurements?" Kyle interrupted.

"That's part of the project. You need to find the measurements and name the chemicals. You then need to find some way to incorporate it in an electrical circuit producing energy."The class stirred and the students got impatient. Mr.Wakers had to raise his voice to be heard."Start mixing today, the project is due Friday!"

Kyle turned to me "Hello lab partner."

"This clear one is Ethylene Glycol. I can tell by the consistency."

"Okay so we need the other two."

Once we figured out the others it wasn't too hard to make the reaction. The only other groups that found the formula that day was Sam and Kate and Nick and Misha.

"You want to come over after school and figure out a plan for the circuit?" He asked after the bell rang.

"Yeah sure. I'll meet you in the front."

"See ya!"

I walked towards the gym and found April hiding her face behind the locker door.

"Um, April?"

"Shhhhhhh!!!"

"Why are-"

"SHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" I would say she was acting strange but she really wasn't."Mason is talking to Sara."

"Your ex Mason?"

"Yes!"

"How dare he talk to another girl after you broke up with him!"

"Shut up they'll hear you!"

"April... Your hiding in a locker..." I peeked around the side. "It's not even yours. Whose locker is this?"

"Not important. They're going to the Winter Wonderland tonight. Come with me."

"I can't. Working on a Chemistry project with Kyle."
