                            Julianne's POV
I threw my hands out the roof of my friend Vivian's Jeep as we drove through the town. The radio was blasting some throwback jams and the sun was radiating down. I haven't felt so free in a long time.

It was going to be the first squad hangout as new graduates, and we all couldn't be happier. We stopped into town and picked up a bunch of pizzas from MOD, then headed to the park for a picnic.

Vivian and I stared to get annoyed once we were there because the guys were nowhere to be found. But then we saw Tanner pull up in his Honda with David and Justin in tow. They walk towards us with a big blanket and a cooler.

"SUMMER 2016 HAS OFFICIALLY COMMENCED!!" David hollers as he grabs a cold beer out of the cooler.

We all grab one for ourselves and start to dig into our pizza. I plop down next to a dejected looking Tanner on the blanket and give him a little punch.

"Why so down Tanman?"

He shakes off whatever he was thinking about and throws me a fake enthusiastic smile.

"Nothing kiddo" he says while lovingly messing with my hair.

"You know I'm older than you right?"

"Julz, I know, just trying some new nicknames!" he states defensively.

"Anything but that!!" I laugh out.

"Ughhh alright fine. What about shitface?"

"No."

"Asswipe?"

"No!"

"Ice queen? Raging hormonal princess?"

I fake a hurt gasp and exclaim "NOOO!!"

He laughs and takes me into a loose headlock, scrunching up my hair again.

"You know I'm kidding Julz. You're not a RAGING hormonal bitch, only a minor one."

"And proud of it!!"

We all finish off our beers and decide to play some beach volleyball. Since Vivian and I played for our school's varsity team, we kicked some major ass. The guys decided to buy us some consolation ice cream and we all went to go get Coldstone. I got my favorite flavor, mint chocolate chip and then mixed in gummy bears. Tanner always makes fun of me for it, telling me it's a ridiculous combo, but hey don't mess with a girl and her ice cream!

We take our cones and head to the top of our town's hill so we can see the sunset. All of us sit in Vivian's Jeep and we talk and laugh until the sun is long gone.

One of the things they don't tell you about graduating high school is that little moments like these start becoming bittersweet. While you're having innocent fun with your friends, it sometimes hits you that your time with them is fleeting. I look around the car, at all my friends I've become so close to, and think to myself how much I'm going to miss them.
