   August 2nd 2552-
Cali and Bon were breaking orbit by the time they realized what was happening. Something loud screeched past their pelican, and all at once the aft view screens turned black.
"Get those camera's fixed, Cali! Fast!" Bon ordered.
"Nothing wrong with them," Cali responded.
"Well then why the hell-" Bon stopped, realized what the problem was. It wasn't a malfunction. The black screen went away to reveal Covenant ships coming out of slip-space. Bon turned his aft cameras to the left, only to confirm his suspicions. It was a Covenant flag ship. The first one on Reach so far.
Like all other Flag Ships, this one was larger, more armored, and had more armaments than that of a regular cruiser. But it had it's downsides, too. It was so big, it couldn't accurately target smaller hostiles...like a Pelican, for example. It was slower than anything else in the fleet too.
Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Bon said, jerking the controls, making a course straight at the flagship.
"Whoa whoa whoa! I am not going to do that!"
"What? Why not, it'll be fun!"

"You know, I hear teens say that about drugs. I wish I was a teen who only had to worry about that stuff..." Cali said longingly.

"Oh, you're just saying that. Here we go then!" Bon sped up.

"I really do hate you...how are we still alive with all your irrational decisions!?" Cali exclaimed. The thought really was baffling. The two argued the whole way there. Once they were nearly a kilometer away from the ship, the Pelican suddenly got silent. The two Spartans always knew when to get serious and when they could mess around. Bon gave a kirt nod to Cali, who returned it;  and they both looked back at the view screen. If Cali could see Bons facial expression, she was positive it was one of complete hatred. The sneer he gave really scared her sometimes, like he'd been taken over by something and would stop at nothing to end the pain...even if it meant hurting his friends. It scared her because she knew it...she knew it too well. It was the only memory of her father, that sneer.
She had never brought it up to anyone before, and she doubted she would ever. She just would have to deal with it for the rest of her life.
"You ready?" She asked, trying to distract her mind from her fears and get poised for battle.
"You?" Bon asked. He never answered that question- he always was ready.
"Of course I am," She smirked. At this point, the Pelican was only a few hundred meters away. Bon eased on the accelerator, and Cali felt the g's push her towards the front of the cockpit. She activated her grav-boots which held her steady to the hull.
"Through there!" Cali highlighted a small entrance on the view screen so Bon could see.
"Got it" bon said intensely. The Pelican banked left towards the massive ship- and that's when the UNSC took notice. Orange colored missiles blasted past the Pelican, impacting against the giant's shields. Cali looked at the aft-cams only to see exactly what the Covenant had done. Just as she anticipated. The UNSC were now fighting on two fronts. While they were blasting baddies from one side, the FlagShip flanked them. The shadow the ship cast into their aft-cams the first time they noticed it now covered the whole battlefield. The sun behind the giant could barely be seen, only a little corona from above it was visible.
"Careful..." Bon muttered to himself, making it audibly obvious the he was gritting his teeth with concentration. Cali went still. One wrong move and she could blow his concentration out of the water, and if that happened...that would be the last mistake of her life. It could possibly end them all together.
The Pelican, finally getting so close to the ship it was practically hovering, soared along the hull of the ship. the UNSC scattered various explosions all around the Pelican, proceeding to weaken the shields.

They were cutting it close! They had to enter the slit that was an emergency exit in case the weather deck bay doors didn't open. It was meant for slow exits, not high speed entrances. Damn! They'd be fine if they had an A.I. Cali wished that she had Casper with them, no matter how annoying he could get!
