Chapter 1: hi summer

Everyone's finally seated but so noisy, I suppose it's to be expected on the last day of term. It's quite the thought; summer.

"Everyone quiet down please, c'mon it's the last day for goodness sake"

Miss Moore echoes over the speakers when a crowd up the back let out an enthusiastic cheer. I sink down in my chair because I can just tell this isn't going to be short and sweet; These things never are.

"You got a tent down there, we might be a while"

a familiar voice says. I look up as Shaun slumps himself down next to me, late as usual.

After a solid hour or so speech the final bell rings. At long last. Its quite ironic; giving a speech about how short life is that lasts an eternity.

" And finally children, don't do drugs, sex or alcohol" Shaun says mimicking Moore. I can't help but let out a giggle, he's spot on with the perky accent, he rolls back his shoulders, oh here it comes.

" I mean seriously, what is her problem!? First of all we are teenagers, second of all we are all individuals Jesus Christ! Just because some teenagers do that stuff we are all automatically deemed drug taking, sex driven, alcohol abusers! Honestly why does she get to talk down to us like that? Because she's older? Oh yeah.. I forgot about the bloody 11th commandment that states unless you're an adult you're to be labelled, looked down on and disrespected...oh yeah and there's a catch too!- since you are a mere teenager, a mere child!you're not allowed to do a single god damned thing about it!" He shouts getting louder with every word leaving his mouth.

All of it is ofcourse true. I'm not entirely sure where in time labelling people, looking down on them and disrespecting them became something of a routine. Females being the kick ass gender we are, fought for rights, as did those of different ethnicities, and I'd like to think us adolescents will have our day too. Someday.

Shaun kicks Afew cans that's in his way and calms down by the time we get to costa. We walk in, like routine I sit down at the couch whilst Shaun orders; One black coffee and one milky tea, lots of sugar. Most of our best conversations happen here, we actually spend a hell of a lot of time here, it's cosy. We like it here.

" here we go " Shaun says placing the cups on the table, sinking into the couch before picking up his coffee making quite the show out of it, making big over-exaggerated blows at his coffee and taking a drink, to which by his expression was a lot hotter than expected.

"April I think I've broke my tongue, like I've legit burned the senses out of it, I can't feel it anymore...fancy helping me" he jokes, wiggling his eyebrows, I can't help but laugh at him.

I take a small sip of my perfect temperature tea, after a dozen more sips I can't help but let out a "mmmmh"

"April take your time, you don't need to rush it" he states.

"Shaun. How many times have we had this conversation?" I reply

"I was just-"

" how many times?" I say with a smirk

" oh I don't know April, a few?"

I fold my arms over my chest satisfied as he pouts like a child that knows they're losing.

"Okay and in those few times I have explained I am a fast tea drinker and you're a slow one, now do I tell you to hurry?- no Shaun, I don't, now I do believe I have answered sufficiently and that this case is closed" I say managing to keep my poker face, he sniggers, dimples showing.

"April Anne Simpson, god forbid you become a lawyer because you'd kill someone and then need a lawyer" he jokes acting out such a scene.

" Shaun Hailer, god forbid you become a comedian" I say mimicking him, he looks up at me, those blue orbes boring into mine. God I'm gonna miss this pain in the ass.

"What time do you need to be home for?" I ask. He freezes, eyes widening and darting up to the clock on the wall.

"crap.crap.crap.crap.crap.crap.crap!" He mutters, hands grabbing his coffee and downing its content.

" half 3! Look at the time, we have to go. Hurry up and finish your tea!" He says, a smirk playing on his lips at his demand. I drink up my tea, swiftly grabbing my backpack and head for the doors as Shaun takes the cups to Lexi.

Lexi is this super cool girl that works here, she moved to London two years ago. She's been travelling since she was old enough to leave her mother; drug addict. Despite her ever dawning bad luck and numerous near death experiences, she is really cool. She has this mysterious indie girl kind of vibe to her, but she's a softie at heart.

Shaun's heading in my direction as he says bye to Lexi. I look up to her making a silly face and she starts to laugh. I bid her farewell as Shaun joins my side.

"Later guys, have a good summer. go adventure and stuff and for gods sake don't spend it here cooped up and being boring like every other year! Don't run from the summer, offer it your hand and say hi"

I smile at her funny choice of words. Well summer if you're there, hi.
