"Doctor, what did you do?" I asked, looking at the great ball of fire slowly diminish as we flew away.
"Before we left, I just turned off the power source. It's really quite simple. It's just quantum physics!" The Doctor said. We laughed, and I walked over to the rail where Mickey laid unconscious.
"Shouldn't we get him somewhere a bit more comfortable?" I mentioned, and Rory and Amy wandered off to their room. Martha wandered over and put her hand on his head gently, careful not to touch any of the deep gashes or dark bruises. She opened his eye carefully and looked in.
"He has a concussion, but he'll be fine. Before he and I began working for UNIT together, I created a serum that made healing proceed faster. Mickey should be fine within a day or so- and yes Doctor, I tested it to make sure it's safe. We don't want any Lazarus incidents happening in here!" Martha said, laughing at her own joke. The Doctor laughed as well.
"So what did you have that the Daleks thought was a threat?" He asked. Martha's eyes lit up.
"Well, after we saw you on that platform, I was curious to find out more about Time Lord reproduction. But, I couldn't exactly go on the Internet and look it up exactly. So I tore the house apart looking for your DNA to test. It took me at least 2 days to find some! So I analyzed it and received data. Over the past few years after I found that information, I've been researching more things about Time Lords.
"Over time I've received many threats from other species because I've gotten information about them too unintentionally. They apparently don't like having humans know a lot about them! Recently when I was doing more research, I learned more about Daleks and what they are. About a month ago they beamed us into their ship. I think they were trying to create a gas to brainwash us so they could know more about Time Lords, but they couldn't make one. So they resorted to torture. Of course it didn't work." Martha explained, beginning to just ramble on, losing my attention.
I walked over to Mickey, who's bruises were nearly completely faded, like Martha said they would. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open.
"Martha!" I shouted over her. She twisted her head towards me in unison with the Doctor.
"He's awake." I said. She hurried over to him, crouching to the ground and holding Mickey's hand.
"The serum worked great! There isn't even a scar." Martha said in amazement, feeling Mickey's forehead.
"Hey sweetheart," Mickey mumbled, sitting up, his fierce eyes boring into the Doctor. I could tell they had a rough past.
"Hey Mickey the Idiot! How's life? You two settling well?" The Doctor said, patting Mickey's shoulder. Mickey shrugged.
"You know, beating Sontarans with my wife. Other things…" Mickey said, grinning at Martha mischievously. She returned it.
"Okay, didn't need to know that!" I said, shaking my head. The Doctor laughed at my reaction.
"Why wasn't I invited to the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Smith?" The Doctor questioned. Martha helped Mickey up.
"Because Doctor. You are the one who told me, 'bad things always happen when you go to a black tie party'! Remember Professor Lazarus?" She reminded.
"We didn't want any monster invasions or anything along those lines!" Mickey laughed. I understood. It seemed wherever the Doctor went, he brought trouble, no matter what.
"Come on Mickey. I have a room on the TARDIS still, I'm assuming. Right Doctor?" He shook his head. The Doctor took a map out of his inside pocket and drew a path to a new room to fit Mickey and Martha. Mickey put her arm around Martha as she said the directions, often retracing their steps. I looked at the Doctor.
"You know a lot of people! Rose, Amy, Rory, Mickey, Martha… you sure do get around!" I giggled, the Doctor laughing along. He flipped a few switches.
"Is it always this difficult to be alone with you?" I asked. He pushed a few buttons.
"Depends on the day," the Doctor said, looking deep into my eyes. I stared further into his eyes like I used to before he regenerated and step up to him, close enough to feel his breath on my face. I used to look into his eyes and feel my soul ripping to shreds. I look into his eyes now though. I still see universes swirling around in his eyes. But now when I look in, I am not being ripped to shreds. These eyes belong to a happy man. These eyes belong to a man with friends. I feel happy to know that I made the Doctor happy. I changed him. Then a pounding came from behind, tearing my concentration away from the Doctor's face. Martha came bounding into the console room, panting.
"How many life forms are on the TARDIS? Right now?" She said with a scared look in her eyes. I looked at my fingers. Me, the Doctor, Rory, Amy, Martha, Mickey, adding to 6 passengers.
"There are 6 people. Why?" I asked. Martha glanced backwards towards the hallway, towards her spouse who was approaching behind her.
"I did a scan when we got to our room for all life forms on the TARDIS, couldn't fall asleep. But it said that there were 7!" She said worriedly. Mickey looked confused, as was I.
"Danielle, it's time to use your screwdriver for something. Come here." The Doctor said, and I obeyed. I held my screwdriver up to Martha and held a button down, waving it around Martha like I've seen the Doctor do so many times before. When I looked at my sonic, it said that there were 2 life forms, not 1. I showed the Doctor. He showed Mickey. We all stared at Martha. The Doctor spoke up.
"Martha…you're pregnant."
