Jail For You: Can't Say

Joshua's POV:

I wake up and walk into Lily's room and shake her awake. Her eyes open as she yawns.

"Lil, c'mon lets get up monkey." I said to her whisper a little.

She sat up and stretched her arms out. "Get dressed, brush your teeth, and then come downstairs and mommy will do you hair.

"I know what to do, Daddy." She said said. She's not a morning a person and gets very sassy in the morning.

I laughed to myself and went downstairs and saw Colleen making eggs.

"Hey." I said walking over to her. "Hi. Noah was still sleeping so I decided to let him. He has a fever." She said turning around making a pouty face.

"It's ok baby. We have medicine. We can just see what happens. She nodded and continued making eggs.

Colleen has still been jittery. She also comes up to me and tells me she loves me so much, and it's a lot. She always hugs me and tries to stay near me, but still hasn't told me why.  'She can't tell me why' which is very aggravating.

"I start writing again today!" Colleen said breaking the silence.

"Yeah!" I said, faking my excited voice. She was very stressed the past couple times she was in the writing room. I don't like her being so stressed.

We heard little footsteps and then a big yawn.

"Hey lil." Colleen said laughing as she pour the eggs on a plate. She put the plate down and went over to Lily who was patiently waiting at the table for her hair to be done.

"Do you want a French braid?" Colleen ask.

"Sure." Lily said quietly. Colleen kissed her head and hugged her

"Mommy isn't going to be home till 6 o'clock." Colleen said to Lily.

"Why? Are you working again?" Lily asked getting sad.

"Yes baby." Colleen said braiding her hair.

"Ok." Lily said sadly. Lily was very attached to both of us in different ways.

I come home from dropping Lily off at school and see Colleen with Noah in her arms.

"Baby it's 8:45, you should leave." I said taking Noah.

"I know. He has a fever and a slight cough." Colleen said getting upset.

"Ok baby. I'll give him medicine. If it gets worse I'll take him to the doctor.

She nodded and kissed my lips.

"I love you Joshua." She said and hugged me tight.

"I love you too, Colleen." I said to her.

"Call me if you want us to bring you lunch." I said smiling.

"Ok baby. Bye Noah." She said kissing Noah's head.

We watched her walk out to her car as I held Noah. He started crying and grabbed me tightly.

"Mommy!" He said sadly.

"Mommy will be back soon."  I said kissing his head.

"Pancakes?" He asked. "You are gonna haven eggs." I said smiling putting him in his high chair.

He pat on his table waiting for his breakfast.

Noah's fever down a little bit but it isn't completely back to normal. He has a slight cough but it's ok. It's just a normal little cold, so I'm not worrying.

It's 7:30 and Colleen still isn't home. She won't pick up her phone either.

Right as I'm about to call her again she walks in.

"Oh Colleen thank god." I said hugging her.

"I'm sorry Josh, they held me longer and then I was driving and didn't want to answer." She said quietly.

"It's ok, please just call." I said trying not to show I was annoyed.

"I'm sorry." She said.

Before I could say anything else Noah and Lily came out into the room.

"Mommy!!" Lily said. Colleens face lit up as she cuddled them both. They talked and talked to Colleen as she listened intensely.

Before we knew it was 8:30 so we had to put the kids to bed.

Colleen put Noah to bed as I put Lily to bed.

I read Lily a bedtime story and she fell asleep faster. I kissed her cheek and turned off the light.

I went into our room to find Colleen on her laptop. "Fuck." She said quietly as she shut her laptop.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, just- work." She said pausing, as if she was trying to make up something.

"Whatever." I said turning off my light.

"Joshua please. It's- I... I don't know Joshua ok." She said breathing heavier. I turned my light back on as she was sitting on the bed curled up in a ball.

I put my arm around her as she crawled into my chest.

"Please tell me what's wrong Colleen." I said getting upset.

"I want to, I just can't."
