After I left the restaurant, I started walking towards the house on the beach side. The great thing about the house and the golf club is that it's a walking distance.
While walking down the beach I let my mind wonder back to my childhood years. I was thinking of the last day that I felt happiness.
The day was hot and only had my brother, Abs, John, Daniel, his friends, and I home. Our parents thought that it would be best to leave a bunch of teenage boys to watch and take care of Abs and I, while the adults went and did their own things. We were all sitting around and watching T.V. until Daniel said, "You guys want to go swimming?" and everyone said, "YEAH!" So we all got up and went our separate ways.
While the boys headed to the pool, Abs and I went to her room to grab our swimsuits. She grabbed herself a two piece, the top was pink with black stripes and the bottom was black with pink stripes. Abs went into her bathroom, while I went and changed in the hallway bathroom. I grabbed a purple one piece that had no designs, it was just plain, and because I was self conscious, I grabbed me a light shirt and a girls surf shorts.
When I was done, I waited in the hallway for Abs, and when she came out of her room, I sort of envied her free spirit. The swimsuit she had on was really cute, but anything she wore, looked gorgeous on her.
"Please tell me that is not what you're going to swim in?" she asked me when she looked at me.
I looked down at myself and replied back, "Yeah, it is. Why what's wrong with my swim clothes."
"Girl, you need to live a little, and get out of your shell." she said. "Come on let's go and have fun."Even at a young age she was a free spirit and that's what I envied of her.
I did not realize I was in front of the house until I heard a few teenagers giggling. So I walked up to the back patio and sat down on one of the lounges and closed my eyes to let myself go back to the memory....
We were walking down the stairs and she was telling me that she was going to teach me how to be a girl the next day. She had me change my one piece into a two piece so, I was wearing a sky blue with white stripes swim suit and nothing else. I felt self conscious but, she told me to tell myself that I am beautiful and keep telling myself that, so I kept the mantra in my head, 'I am beautiful.' We were in a fit of giggles when we got closer to the back door and heard water splashing, grunts and the boys making a lot of noises, so we knew they were getting a little rough in the water. As we step out onto the back patio my eyes found Jace's. I looked down quickly and I felt my cheeks getting a little warm. Abs had seen my reaction and she started to laugh at me, and my cheeks got even more brighter. When I looked back up, I saw Jace watching me, he had a smirk on his face and winked at me, I didn't think it was possible, but my cheeks get more bright red. Abs were laughing harder, but now the guys had also witnessed me blush from just a look from Jace and started to razz on me. It wasn't bad, but they made jokes of it.
I got over it and jumped into the water. We all played around for about an hour, and the sun was just setting. I was clean and in comfortable clothes, that again Abs had ordered me to wear. I was sitting on one of the picnic chairs and was relaxing. I saw movement on the side and looked up, it is was Jace, he came and sat next to me. We didn't say anything to each other for awhile, until Jace said, "Hi." I looked at him and rolled my eyes, but replied shyly, "Hi."
After a few more awkward moments, he said, "Your look really cute in those." I blushed and muttered a 'thanks' to him. He asked, "You want to take a walk on the beach?" "Yeah" I replied back.
We started walking down and said nothing, but it was a comfortable silence. My breath got caught in my throat when I felt him grab my hand and laced our fingers together. It felt so good to hold his hand and my whole body felt warm from just that contact of our bodies. We kept walking in silence and it was getting dark, but we both didn't care. When we got to the end of the beach, I was about to turn around and walk back to the house, but was yanked back. I looked up at Jace and looked him in his eyes. Beautiful sky blue. He held me close to his hard chest and just stared me in my eyes, we both still hadn't said anything. While he just stared at me and looked clam, my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest and I felt butterflies in the pit of my stomach, I was nervous and scared, I didn't know what he was going to do or say. But then he asked, "Can I kiss you?" I was shocked, and didn't know what to do, but I felt myself nodding. He slowly started to lean his head towards mine, giving me time to reject him, but I was stunned and stayed. Seconds before I felt his lips on mine, I got a hold of myself and leaned towards him and we kissed.
At first it was a small peck on the lips, but then we deepened the kiss....
