"Maybe it's the blood type that determines the mutation patterns?" Aquarius inquired. Libra nodded, "My results are leading to that, but the pathogen is so random. It's hard to be sure about anything." Aquarius sighed, turning back to his work. Libra examined the pathogen under the microscope. A sickly yellow green, in a insect-like shape. This tiny thing is what caused the world to collapse. When it infected a host, it first multiplied, and speed throughout the brain. Then it killed the host with a sudden burst of arsenic, and it takes control of the body. It's only goal is reproduction, so it seeks out other hosts with the body. One of the most worrying things about the disease is the fact that the pathogen sometimes releases the arsenic with to few copies, keeping the host from dying and being controlled, but the surviving copies fill the host with the desire to spread it anyway. The still living host is safe from other zombies, but it retains it's intelligence. They rally the mindless zombies around them and form armies. It wasn't enough though. The Internet allowed the news to spread too quickly. By the time the infection reached new areas the people had already set up defenses. Western U.S.A. managed to reduce the amount of zombies significantly. The government had fallen in the east, leaving no one in charge. The corporation managed to gather the resources to take control of eastern Nevada. Libra had been working on the cure for a six years now, as her mother had been bitten. They reached the corp before she turned, and the mysterious leader of the Corp. put Libras mother on ice, keeping her from turning. It also kept Libra, an expert surgeon and chemist, from leaving. Libra looked in the mirror above the sink they used. Tall and lithe, an expert with double knives, Libras black hair and chocolate colored skin kept people off guard when she fought them. Aquarius was a genius inventor, so he made her a special suit that gave her a boost to her speed. She turned away from the mirror and resumed her work on the only thing that mattered to her now.
