Scorpio stalked one of the sentries of Outpost 14.  Every outpost was surrounded by a wall, with a soldier for every five residents.  Outpost 14 was a medium sized settlement, with about 10 soldiers.  Scorpio had examined the wall from a distance.  The walls were farther from the homes, in case of growth.  The size of the wall kept the soldiers relatively far from each other.  At 15 feet tall, the wall was hardly a challenge to Scorpio, who used a burnt out car as a spring board.  Once on the wall, she followed the nearest soldier as they shifted positions every hour.  Scorpio drew her short katana, which had a black matte finish to keep it from reflecting the moonlight.  She silently stepped forward, clamping her hand over the soldiers mouth while driving her sword deep into his back.  The mans eyes rolled into the back of his head and he slumped in her arms.  Scorpio withdrew her sword from the man, wiping the blood off on his uniform.  She cut the strap that held his submachine gun, throwing it over the wall to collect later.  She  continued in the manner, reducing the enemy forces by four.  Suddenly, the soldiers started moving, the hour spent.  Scorpio decided to go hard and heavy, duel wielding a silenced pistol and her sword.  The guard she was rushing upon heard the footsteps, turning upon her and managed a half shout before her her pistol round went cleanly through his neck.  He gurgled as his throat filled with blood and dropped to the ground.  The other soldiers ran towards the noise, shouting and raising their weapons. Scorpio shot forward, shooting the men with her pistol, and if they got to close, ended them with her katana.  Soon, only a single soldier was left.  Scorpio aimed at the man, but when she pulled the trigger, there was only a click. The man, surprised that he was still alive, unleashed a flurry of bullets from his submachine gun.  Scorpio dove sideways off the wall, rolling to absorb the impact.  She accidentally dropped her pistol in the process.  She twirled around to get behind a home.  The people of the outpost were hidden in their homes, knowing not to get involved in a Resistance versus Corporation situation.  Scorpio peeked around the corner, seeing the soldier had also dropped to the ground.  As soon as the soldier was in reach, she lashed out in a sideways slash.  The soldier, with blinding speed, blocked the vicious cut with his gun.  He unleashed a straight, hard kick to Scorpios abdomen.  She tumbled backwards, on her feet in a flash.  The soldier had dropped his destroyed gun, and drawn a large combat knife, serrated on the back side.  She closed with the soldier, slashing and thrusting her katana in a flurry of motion.  The soldier met her blow for blow, almost slashing her stomach open on one occasion.  Now up close, Scorpio noticed a patch on the soldiers shoulder.  Black, with a red hammer surrounded by 5 stars in the center.  She felt a sinking feeling in stomach.  That was the patch of the Hammerblows, an elite class of fighters feared for their sheer ferocity and skill.  Her attention on the patch cost her a shallow but long slash to her left leg.  The Hammerblow grimaced when she returned the favor, ripping into his side with a thrust.  Wasn't fatal, but the pain certainly caused him to lose a bit of focus.  The fight dragged on, the fighters occasionally nicking each other  in the dazzling display of skill that was the duel.  Scorpio knew that if she fought this man to long, reinforcements would certainly arrive
to kill her.  She decided to take a move out of the soldiers play book.  She viciously kicked the mans knee, snapping the bone.  When the man stumbled on his broken limb, she quickly sliced off his knife hand and stabbed him in the chest.  The man kept trying to kill her, even impaled.  Soon enough though, he slowed and died, welcoming the relief of pain that came with death.  Scorpio took her blade out of the elite soldier, panting.  She limped on her bad leg, gathering the weapons scattered around the outpost.  She started the long walk back home.
