Once long ago in America when life was still trying to start up there was a quaint little town called Oak Wood in Kentucky. The year was 1623 and Oak Wood was getting along just fine it was October and November was going to be rolling around soon, so they had to get the harvest in before the first snow fall.

One day a girl named Grey Snow Anderson was in her family's field doing her chores by picking corn but was stopped when she heard rustling in the corn
stalks, but she needn't get worried it was only her sister Frances Belle.
"You look like you just saw a ghost Grey" Frances joked.

"Fran you know I get scared easily. How did I know you weren't a wolf or something. You need to be more careful they're going to start coming out soon, food is getting scare for them." Grey said harshly. "If you have nothing better to do than sneak up on people and try to scare them, then you could help me finish up since it's going to start getting dark soon it's already six o'clock"

"Oh alright if you insist" Fran stated disappointed.

Soon it was seven thirty and it was well after dark but they're family eats around eight they had four medium sized baskets filled with ears of corn. Fran and Grey had started towards the house when they heard a rustling sound coming from the tall stalks of corn.

"It's probably just a raccoon or possum or something" Fran said to Grey
worriedly.

But she was wrong because soon after she said that there was growling coming from the same place that sounded to big to be a raccoon or possum.

"I don't think that's a raccoon Fran."

"I'm thinking you're right... RUN"

Soon they were both running as fast as their legs could carry them. "Come on Grey were almost there. Just a bit further."

But when they were in the light all they could see were two, dark, cold, beady eyes.

When they got inside their mother was looking at them a bit strange. It wasn't because this clothes were ripped or that they had come inside without their shoes. It was because their faces were red and they were panting because they were out of breath.

"WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN!?!" Their mother Scarlet screamed. "Oh never mind just sit dinner will be done shortly."

Everyone else was already sitting down at the table (that included their three sisters Jennifer, Joan, and Jane. And their three brothers Jack, Josh, and Jacob. )

They live in a tidy little house this had an attic where the children slept. And the main part of the house which was the kitchen, dinning room, living room, and the bed room for the parents.

The usual for dinner was corn meal and this is what they were having tonight.
They talked about the days harvest and shortly went to bed.

But Grey just couldn't fall asleep. She kept hearing the cry of a wolf. But eventually she fell into a deep deep slumber. But even in her sleep she heard a wolfs cry or maybe that was in her dream.

In her sleep she was running, running as fast as she could but she wasn't in her field on a bright sunny warm day. Instead it was in the forest on a cold winter night she could hear people screaming but before she could look behind her to see what it was she woken by a violent shake and a scream.
