Mr. Delroy barged into Town Hall with Adam stumbling to keep up behind. He stormed down the halls until he reached the Mayor's office. Mayor Brown jumped when his door was thrown open by Mr. Delroy. He dropped into a seat and started to ask questions.
"Tell me everything about the King and Queen selection process. I would like to enter my daughter."
Adam slid into the chair next to his father as Mayor Brown began to list what they had to do.
"First, your child must arrive in formal apparel. Next, they will be asked to perform many tasks that a King or Queen would have to do while they are in power. Then we will eliminate a half the 'contestants' and keep going with the tasks. The tasks will be, but are not limited to: Cooking, cleaning, helping, caring for children, self-defense just in case someone strikes the castle, and many more."
"Ha, Ania stands no chance, she can't do any of those," Adam mused. He began to chuckle aloud and the Mayor glanced over at him.
"Are you entering your son too?"
"Oh, Adam? Nah, he needs to stay home and help out," Mr. Delroy answered.
Adam huffed and stood up. "Now that we got our information, shouldn't we go get what we need? I was dragged out the house on behalf of my own will and I should at least accomplish what I was dragged out to do," He spat.
Mr. Delroy shot Adam a look of anger as Mayor Brown spoke again. "Guess you two need to leave. The selecting will take place this Saturday at 12 pm. I wish your daughter good luck."
As they walked back outside, Adam thought about becoming King. He thought about how cool it would be to live in a castle, how nice it would be to have a lot of money again, and.
He would have to get married.
All of Adam's ideas flowed out his head. Did he really wanna do this? Human interaction and affection wasn't really his thing. His spouse may hate him then he would get kicked out the castle and lose all the money. All the ideas flowed back in cause he couldn't get kicked out unless the Queen had a good reason to rid of him. And he wanted the money.
When they reached home, Mr. Delroy practically flew into the house. When Ania and Mrs. Delroy asked why he was so happy. He explained the whole plan about entering Ania to be Queen and getting money and everything. Ania grew the same gigantic grin on her face that her father had.
"Let's do it! I must win!" She squealed, grabbing her Mom's arm and demanding she took her to buy her new clothes for the selection.
Adam rolled his eyes and went up to his room to play video games. He stayed all through the rest of the day playing and pondering on how he could enter. At around 11 at night, he heard everyone go to bed and he sparked an idea.
He snuck down to his parents' room and 'borrowed' some money out their wallet. He then snuck out his house and into town.
"Suit, suit, suit... that's all I need..." He muttered as he looked for a shop to buy one from. He finally found one after an hour of looking. He bought the best-looking suit he could afford and walked back home. He already had dressy shoes at home, along with hair products and cologne to make him smell good and his hair not stick in every direction possible. The road to winning wasn't going to be hard to get down.
He always cooked for the family, because he hated his father's cooking and his mother never wanted to cook.
Adam's youngest sister was a pain in the rear and he already had to deal and take care of her.
He also helped clean every weekend so that would also help with the cleaning part of the selection.
Adam went to bed with the exact stupid grin that Ania and his dad had on their faces when they heard about the selection.
