Adam snuck down stairs the next morning carrying a big bag containing his suit, shoes, cologne and hair products.
"Where are you going?"
Adam froze and turned to see his dad, head tilted, watching Adam sneak out.
"I was, uh, going to Kevin's house! Yeah, he said he was entering the Selection competition thingy too, so I said I'd help him get ready," Adam nervously grinned.
"With that big of a bag?"
"Uh, DUH! I packed all my good manly stuff in here." He beat the bag with his fist and heard a shake from the cans.
"Ok..." His dad turned away and Adam rushed put towards Kevin's house.
He walked in, said hi to Kevin's parents before marching up to his room. Kevin was shocked as his door flew open.
"I'm entering the King and Queen thingy and need to get ready here."
Kevin cocked head as Adam pulled his shirt over his head, revealing his surprisingly flat stomach and chest.
"Why here though?"
"I can't at my house cause my dad didn't want me to enter in the first place." He pulled a vest over the suit he was now wearing and slid on a tie.
Kevin shrugged. Adam removed the jeans he was wearing and stepped into some dress pants. He then put on his socks and dressy shoes before dragging his bag into the bathroom.
There, he gelled the mess of brown locks sitting on his head. He combed through it, creating a wave of hair on his head.
He was definitely going to win this.
He finished up by covering himself in cologne and walking out the bathroom.
Kevin's jaw dropped. "Well then, someone's looking pretty fancy to-DAY!"
He smiled and his perfect, pearly, white teeth sparkled from behind his thin pink lips. "Thanks fam, guess it's time to go. Wish me luck!"
Adam tore down the stairs and out the house, running fast towards town. It was nearly time for the selecting to start and he hadn't signed up yet.
Heads turned and Oo's and Aa's rose from the crowds of people he passed. Girls drooled over his good looks, creating puddles in which he nearly slipped in.
A smile spread across his face, exposing his teeth to everyone. Running his fingers through his wave of hair, more screams rang through the streets.
Someone threw a rose at him, which he caught and tucked into the pocket of his vest.
He finally reached the destination to sign up. He quickly signed all the papers he needed to and walked towards the place of the Selection.
"ADAM?!"
He whirled around and instantly saw his dad and Ania rushing his way. Mr. Delroy stopped in front of Adam, eyes skimming over his body and apparel. Ania nearly choked on the mint gum she was chewing to freshen her breath.
"Wow." Ania gaped, the gum falling out of her mouth.
Mr. Delroy didn't seem too happy about his change.
"Why are you here?"
"I don't know, why ARE we here? On this fine planet?" Adam said with a wink.
Mr. Delroy growled and snatched at Adam's ear. After getting a firm grip, he yanked Adam close and whispered something in his ear.
"Just go home. You will never win, plus Ania's already competing. And I don't want you 'running' a castle, you are too young and naive."
Adam pulled away. "NO! I'm NOT going to listen to you. If I want to compete, I should be able to freely. Now, the Selection is starting and I am going to dominate this competition."
He strutted over to the building where everyone else was heading, more whooping and hollering echoed the streets as he walked down it.
