The day passed by so quickly , me and mum didn't say a word to each other. She never spoke a word to me,so I never spoke a word to her. I hated it when mum was silent. It reminded me of when dad died. She never spoke a word after his death for what seemed like one million years.
Mum loved dad, they were perfect together. When they were holding hands, they used to stare into each others twinkling eyes with such passion. I loved it. It was all perfect until one day when dad went to work that morning he never came back on the night. We tried to contact his work as the people he was with that day, but nobody had seen him. After that there was no news about him at all.
I started to get upset thinking about dad , I didn't want to cry- not in front of mum anyways, that would make me look like a baby. So I plucked up the courage to speak to her....
"So w-w-where do you get the food and water from?" I asked her nervously. Mum was sat in the corner of the room staring at the wall.
"From over the border" the quiet voice from the corner said. I breathed a sigh of relief when she was telling me this, finally she's going to tell me how to do it, she's going to tell me her secret. Anxiously, I continue to ask mum questions and she continued to mumble the answers. I was finally getting somewhere.
