The clouds slowly drifted in the blackness of the star freckled sky. I leaned on my balcony clutching onto a glass of red wine in my right hand while I overlooked the neon-lit city in which the moon watched over during the starry night. New York, the city of dreams. There's simply nothing you can't do, the sky is the limit.

I liked it out here, the noises were always loud and the traffic was endless. These distractions helped me forget about the qualms that pricked at my head and let me be free. Let me be a leaf in the wind, just like tonight. Everything was simply just,

Perfect.

"Ms. Davis?" A voice called for me, while I spun my head round in search for the voice.

"Ms. Davis?" It called out again. "Ms. Davis?"

The subtly of the voice vanished when my weary eyes shot open, to see 100 eyes fixated on me and an angry professor glaring at me.

"If you wish to snore throughout the entire lecture, please do so outside of the hall" Dr. Whitley stated as he ignited a couple of sniggers which could be heard from end to end of the lecture hall.

"I- I don't, I'm sorry" I stammered, while I blushed and dug myself deeper into the chair.

The lecture ended minutes later, saving me from any more public embarrassment. The attention moved away from me and to the door.

"Don't forget to hand up your 'Writing For The Web' assignment on your way out" Dr. Whitley barely yelled above the chatter.

I did as the professor demanded and left the lecture hall. The corridor was loud and crowded as always which made it difficult to get the toilet.

I was stressed its been a stressful couple of weeks, exam season had just ended and graduation was just around the corner. And it was only a matter of time till I'd finally be able to get a job in the actual working world as a journalist.

When I reached the ladies toilet, I pushed the door open and entered. "Empty" I said to myself as I walked over to the sink and gazed into the mirror. I was in serious need of nice cold water to be splashed on my face, to wake me up a little. But, I didn't perfect my eyebrows and makeup to wash it all away, well at least not now.
The toilet door flung open and then entered a girl. Petite in stature and blessed with blue eyes and long blonde voluminous hair.

"Gwen!" Barbara dragged me out of my thoughts. "I didn't think you were going to come in today" she added as she cuffed her arms around mine and dragged me out of the toilet.

"Well I wasn't, I barely got any sleep last night" I replied, as I ran my hand through my hair and made our way to the exit.

A mischievous smile crept onto her face, as she gave me a coyly glimpse. "So who was the lucky guy" she implied as she nudged my shoulder with hers.

My jaw dropped in awe, by her proposition. "Barbie!" I gasped but I couldn't help but smile while I playfully pushed her. "No guy, just stressed"

"Why your exams are over right?" She enquired bewilderedly. "Your supposed to be celebrating"

"Not if I fail"

"Seriously? Fail Journalism, that's impossible" she scoffed. "If anyone should be stressed it's me, I'm the one studying law" she finished her sentence while resting her hand on her chest, in an effort to dramatically make her point. "Do you know how hard it is to be at the top of my class and still have a life?" She rhetorically asked, as she praised herself.

Her phone buzzed uncontrollably and vibrated in her denim jean's pocket. She whipped out her Galaxy S6 and scrutinised the caller ID. "I need to take this, it's Brett" Barbie informed me as she answered her cell phone and placed it at her ear.
