    ✔ JACKSON ✔

I smirked as I felt the pants of April's  body beneath me.

"Jacky," she whispered, her eyes glistening.

"Hm," I muttered as I slumped besides her, exhausted.

"I love you," she blurted out.

  "What did you just say?"

Realizing what she had said, her eyes widened, "I...I..." she spluttered.

"April, what did you just say?"

"I didn't say anything," she lied, shaking her head. "I promise, Jacky. I didn't say anything."

    "Don't lie to me, April."

"Fine," she said, bursting into tears. "I said I love you."

"Why?" I asked, plastering a blank expression on my face. "Why, just why?"

"Because, it's true. What I said is true." April said, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I can't help my feelings. I can't change the fact I love you. You don't think I've tried?"

     I fell silent.

"Trust me, I've tried. I've tried so hard. And yet, I failed. I always fail. Is that why you don't want me, Jackson? Because I'm a failure?"

"Of course that's not it," I said, shaking my head. "You're a nice girl, April, you're anything a guy would want; gorgeous, sweet, nice... but I have feelings for someone else."

"You must've been attracted to me a little, if you slept with me so many times," she pointed out.

"Yeah, well, that was completely on lust and desire and I was feeling lonely." I explained.

"Why do you love Violet and not me?" she asked. "I don't understand. Violet always, always has everything! She even has the boy I've always wanted wrapped around her little finger."

I sighed and shook my head. "You're just as good as her, April, I promise you."

"Is it because you haven't slept with her, that you want to be with her? Maybe if you get her through your system, then you'll be over her and you and I can finally be together..." she suggested, her eyes alight with hopefulness.

"I'm sorry, but no, it's not that, April, definitely not that."

     "Then what is it?"

"I don't know, exactly." I said, as the image of Violet flooded my mind. "She's just...every time I see her, my heart starts to race and I just, I don't how to explain it."

She frowned. "I love you, Jackson. I'll always be there for you even if you with someone else. And when she breaks your heart, I'll be there to pick up the pieces."

She began to dress and when she left, I felt an emptiness in my chest that had been temporarily filled with April and now that she was gone, I realized how alone I truly was.
