Chapter II - The Game
Cecilia and Roderick Zane waited patiently out front of the school as the ships were directed in and out of the school zone. Traffic Monitors were guiding the parents and personal drivers of the children to the loading dock and then out of the way so that the children could be moved out quickly.
Normally, the Zane children were last to be picked up. Their father did not get off of shift until school had been out for an hour which, by that time, had cleared out all the other families' ships. They normally had no problem with this only on this day, instead of waiting inside for their driver, the Phoenix children were standing on the opposite side of the loading dock, glaring over at the Zane's.
"When will our driver be here? I can't stand being near such low level misfits." Anastasia commented as the two laughed.
"I really hope you didn't just say what I think you just said."
A familiar voice to both the Phoenix and Zane children caused their heads to jolt towards the loading decks. In a temporary holding zone, Jocelyn Phoenix was walking in the direction of the teens. She was the eldest child of the Phoenix family and the caregiver to her two younger siblings. Their parents had long since passed on a space trip between here and Mars during the war several years back leaving Jocelyn in charge of the family and business.
While she was indeed a Phoenix and only 18 years old as of this past week, Jocelyn was not a terrorizing presence for the Zane family. She was quite the contrary.
"S-sister!" Paolo and Anastasia shouted as they froze with fear. Jocelyn had a horrifically upset look on her face as he pulled the sunglasses from her pale face exposing her red with anger, hazel eyes. Her long, dark brown hair was tied up into a pony tail as it seemed she had been running errands and decided to pick up her siblings.
"Jocelyn, wow... you look different." Cecilia commented as she scanned the girl up and down. She had only graduated the year before, top of her class, but at the time had only been a plane Jane. She was all thin with pale skin and her hair was always in a long braid behind her head but now she had transformed.
In one short year the eldest Phoenix girl had become quite the looker filling out and learning the concept of both makeup and hairspray. However she was still a very modest soul and drove fear into the hearts of her siblings when they acted like Neanderthals. This was only obvious due to the fire now being exchanged between the family.
"Cecilia?" Jocelyn asked as she looked the girl up and down. Cecilia blushed as she nodded her head, "It has been forever. I am so glad you look to be doing well. I have heard about how gorgeous you have become."
"Can we please go now?" Paolo demanded growing more and more embarrassed as his sister spoke. Jocelyn shot a hot look over to her brother who withdrew immediately from his bold statement.
"Jocelyn, I should make you aware that I got your sister in trouble today. We disrupted the class so Miss Parker in math sent us to the office."
"Jocelyn?" She asked. Roderick laughed as he remembered the year before when the two had been partnered up for an environmental cleanup team.
"J. J." he laughed
She smiled and shrugged, "If she was being half as rude to you then as I just heard her being now, I think she deserved it."
The three looked back at Paolo and Anastasia who seemed livid now and yet equally terrified by their eldest sisters presence there. Cecilia twirled her hair as Roderick tried his best not to blush. He was happy at how much taller he had grown in the past year as they now saw eye to eye. Before she towered over him with her long legs.
