Chapter I -The Feud

"Miss Parker... Miss Parker!" Anastasia Phoenix yelled from the front row desk of the classroom. The cyborg teacher, T9-Parker or Miss Parker to the students, turned from the touch screen board to the face of her students. Her hair, for having been one of the Masterson Corporation's leading teaching units, was long and yellow as her eyes were gray, just like all the rest. Her skin was also light blue, just like the rest.

She was tall, slender and aesthetically pleasing, just like all the rest. Miss Parker wore a standard issue teaching uniform of navy blue pants suit for women. She taught Math.

Anastasia Phoenix was the youngest girl in her class having skipped an entire grade to get there. She was also much shorter than the rest of the students with two long brown braids down her shoulders, brown eyes under her thick, black rimmed glasses and an very neatly pressed school issued uniform of navy blue skirt and white button up shirt. Surrounding her on the desk was a hovering vocal recording unity, student assistant for taking her notes and highlighting critical areas by reception of the student's brainwaves, and an assorted array of brain stimulating gadgets.

Jasper Masterson Boarding School was the leading learning facility in the entire North American territory. It was also the largest learning institute in Indigo Metropolis producing 99% of all politicians, world leaders and even holo-vision stars. 99% of the school was made up of wealthy family's children. The other 1% was scholarship. These students were considered "bottom of the barrel" financially but also had equally as bright brains.

Anastasia Phoenix was one of the many children at Jasper Masterson Boarding School to be awarded entrance into the school upon reputation, brains and money. While she could have easily qualified for the scholarships, her lack of care for the middle or lower class wages and pride in the Phoenix inheritance caused her to feel that being awarded privileges into Jasper was simply beneath her.

"Yes, Miss Phoenix?" They teachers voice was always very clear. It sounded human but it was far too perfect to be so. They never stuttered, sneezed or misspoke. It was like a recording each time however the responses were always completely in context making it the most life like of the Masterson Corporation cyborgs.

"Scholarship Roddy is using a magnetized detractor to cause malfunctions in my brain stimulators. I don't see how I am expected to skip yet another grade if this continues!"

Roderick Zane sat forward in his seat with a sly, half smile on his face. Much like Anastasia Phoenix, Roderick had one of the most intense and brilliant minds of the current generation. While he'd had opportunities to jump ahead, not just one, but multiple grades, he felt content in sticking to an age group much closer to his own. He had taken it upon himself in recent weeks, seeing as the education level was so far beneath him, to take up secondary hobbies in order to pass the time. Anastasia Phoenix was one of these hobbies.
