Chapter IV - The Believers

Bam sat at the chair again as he watched the group of stunned eyes. The only person who’d seemed unaffected by his words was Anastasia. She leaned back, shaking her head with her arms crossed over her chest.

Everyone knew that cyborgs couldn’t lie unless they were programmed too. But that would have warranted for everything he’d said since they found him to be a lie. Roderick was still confused about his name on the readout from earlier.

“Oh come on, guys! I even hate to admit it but we are the five brightest minds Jasper Masterson Boarding School. It is obvious that this is either a defective or special issue government unit and we should report him at once.” Anastasia finally outburst.

She flailed her arms as she spoke then crossing them. Anastasia then wiggled her nose to adjust her glasses which had become askew in her ranting. Paolo and Cecilia were still watching the blue boy as J. J. turned to her little sister.

“If it were a government issue unit it would have introduced itself as such. Not to mention, why would it be a teenager?” She then asked. Anastasia shrugged.

“That is not of our concern. Even if it is not, Masterson Corporation should be made aware!”

“No!” Bam then shouted. Roderick could feel a surge of worry travel through his body. He wasn’t sure why but he suddenly felt like that idea was very, very bad.

“Excuse me, I have not addressed you yet.” Anastasia said snidely to Bam.

Bam disregarded her rudeness and looked back desperately at Roderick again. Roderick could see in his eyes that he was genuinely afraid. He was just as afraid as any man, woman or child of a normal birth.

Roderick then turned to his sister. She’d already knew what he would say. They were an intuitive set of siblings and Roderick knew Cecilia would back him up, no matter how crazy the idea. She always did.

“If you don’t want to believe him, we will. He can come home with us.” Roderick announced standing. Bam smiled with excitement over the swift belief of his new friend.

Paolo then stood, shaking his head, “Why do you get to keep it? If he doesn’t belong to anyone I think that as the superior brother in this situation I should be the one who is responsible for him.”

Bam motioned to speak but was, yet again, cut off by the quarrel of the Zane and Phoenix family.

“Superior? In what sense of the word, Paolo? I can watch over him just as well as you could!”

Paolo laughed hysterically, “Where are you going to put him in your efficiency sized unit? Will he sleep under dad’s bed or yours?”

Roderick grew silent as he shook his head. When it came to Paolo he shouldn’t have expected less. Instead of just arguing like a grown up he had to play the low-blow games ever single time. If it was not his money it was their family name or his mother. Paolo would die before he was shamed by the Zane family.

J. J. turned to Paolo and shoved him back down to the couch. As he tried to stand she leaned forward shoving a finger into his nose.

“Shut. Up.” She said shortly. He motioned to speak. She then said it again, “Shut… up!”

Anastasia, having grown exhausted with the situation and still a head shorter, or more, than the entire room, jumped onto the metal and glass table which stood in the center of the entire sibling group so that she was now just slightly taller than the rest.

If there was ever anything to have been learned about Anastasia it was that she demanded attention.

“Attention! I need everyone’s attention right here!” She clapped her hands three times breaking up the chatter among houses. As J. J. motioned to speak, the small girl denied her.
