It's too bad that there's only two weeks of summer left and I'm stuck here with a fever and sore throat.. I mean, I lay around the house all day any other time, but I'm impatient today, for I woke up with a text from my mom saying "Big news! We'll discuss it over dinner tonight.. Xoxo, momma." Honestly, what could it be about?
The clock reads 5:40 p.m., but I feel like it could be 10. I heard the garage door open, which means my mom is getting home. Just to let you know, I don't really have a dad.. He left us when I was about 10, mom said he had a problem with alcohol and she just couldn't take it. They filed for a divorce, but with my knowledge, I'm pretty sure that didn't happen. I don't have too many memories about him, other then he would always get me out of the house so I was active. Just look at me now.
"Hey sweetie," I heard my mom say as she walks through the door with her clothes she threw on this morning to go to work.
"Hi mom," I reply curious as to why she hasn't taken her shoes off yet.
"I told you we're going to dinner, hurry up and go throw some nice clothes on, I'll be waiting in the car." She said walking out the door.. Well, it looks like my question has been answered and I'm off to my room to throw on a dark blue pair of jeans with a floral spaghetti strap top, and can't forget the grey fluffy cardigan my grandma bought me for Christmas..In the car I notice we're out by Crystal Lake, which is mainly just one of those big towns that you find shopping malls, and things to do in. With a closer eye I see my mother turning into the restaurant Mr. Krause's. Walking in, these brownish heels I have goin' are really starting to be a pain, but sooner or later we'll be seated with dinner and I'll know whatever the news is.
The hostess at the front desk was a senior I go to school with, her name is Chelsea Groves. Her long locks of curly blonde hair sits
perfectly on her shoulders, with a good tan to go with it. It just reminds me that I'm not one of those girls that boys go head over heels for and are popular, hence the reason I jumped in with the bad kids. My mom doesn't know any of that as we're sitting in middle of the restaurant with a large window over looking the lake behind us, but my business is nothing she needs to worry about. My mother and I have just ordered our dessert for the night and she finally opened her mouth.. "I'm just going to get right to it sweetheart.. My job got transfered to Arlington Heights. I know that moving wasn't something you were expecting, but it's something we have to do. I saw the letter from the highschool you applied to, but this is just like that, a new start! It'll be your Sophmore year, so you still have plenty of years of highschool left. Which means we have about two weeks to get out of our house now, I'm so sorry it just short notice." And in a blink of an eye, I can finally start over with people who don't even know my name. This experience should be sweet like sugar, or turn out to be cold as ice.
