Sitting in the bus I try to engrave the surroundings that were passing by. The location of the school seemed nice so far. Very green with a lot of trees, and the brochure said the school had been around for many years so it's architecture is very traditional. As the bus was nearing its stop I took out my earphones and gathered my bags. I was told the rest of my heavy stuff would already be transported to my dorm room so when I paid my fair for the ride to the driver I hopped out and breathed in the new surroundings.
"Sir Jay Adachi?"
I turn around to see a man relatively my height with glasses and a black suit. He seemed rather formal, back straight and arms to his side. Despite looking rather young his hair was completely gray and had one of those smiles that made you feel uneasy. Doesn't really mean he's someone to be worried of or anything, just that it's normal to not trust someone with a fake and forced smile. Something I've learned being raised in the Adachi house
"Yes, that's me. You are?"
"I was assigned to escort you to the principal, I'm the secretary. When we have things sorted out we'll have a student show you around, preferably your roommate." He sighs " Hopefully if he cooperates"
Ignoring his last statement I start following him towards the large school building. There were many students walking around, some even glancing our way and whispering. Shrugging off the obvious stares I continued to follow the secretary. Harmless gossiping and stares are nothing new to me, matter of fact it rather feels like I never left home.
"Sir Adachi?"
"Huh? I'm sorry, what?"
"This is the door to the principals office. Just enter when you're ready. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go get the student who'll show your around"
With a final smile he turns around and leaves. I guess I was spacing out so much I didn't even notice we've already arrived to the office. In front of me was a big, dark wooden door with rather intricate designs on them of vines and angels. Calmly I grabbed the silver doorknob and turned it. I had only opened the door slightly and all of a sudden a breeze of freezing air had hit my skin. I'm scared to open the rest.
"Now don't be scared Jay, come on in" a deep voice said behind the slightly opened door. After his statement for some reason the fear I had of the cold vanished and I fully opened the door. Slightly shivering I walk into the room and closed the entrance behind me. I now had a better look at the voice who persuaded me to enter despite the freezing temperature in the room. It was a rather well built man who looked no older than 35 at most and seemed to not be bothered in the slightest with the very cold room. He wore a white suit which made his dark black hair stand out even more despite the lack of light in the room and his hands sported black leather gloves"
"Jay Adachi correct? I'm the principal, Gray Petrov." Folding his hands he looks at me curiously, "You seem rather cold. I had heard people of the Adachi clan were able to control their body temperature, making adapting for them easy"
Upon the statement I take a deep breathe and try to raise my body heat to the room. I need to remind myself that I may be here to find Masato but while I'm doing that I'm also representing the Adachi. If I do anything to make them look bad I'll be removed and replaced.
"Sorry, I don't usually encounter such cold rooms."
"No, it's alright." He says as he waves away my apology. He then grabs a portfolio and inspects it. "So Jay, the only people here who knows of your reason to being here are me, my secretary, and a few teachers. For obvious reasons you are changing your last name to hide the fact you are part of the Adachi, which shouldn't be hard since your appearance doesn't give you away. Lady Suzuki has done a lot for this school so feel free to ask any favors. Reasonable favors of course.
Now let me give you a basic synopsis of your public profile here, the profile that people will know you of. You're a year two student starting school in the middle of the year due to your sudden interest in attending a school with other students instead of continuing your homeschool studies. Now I understand that in the schools standards you're knowledge already far exceeds that of even most of of our graduates but you will need to adapt to your grade. Being able to blend in with the other students and not cause disturbance is very important"
I nod my head, "of course"
The principle continues, "You are no longer Jay Adachi, of the well privileged and distinguished Adachi clan that has made itself one of the most renowned and traditional family in the country. You are now Jay Anami, the son of a rising business tycoon." Sighing the principal looks up at me and smiles, "questions?"
Soaking in all of the information I shake my head, "no"
"Great, then le-" mid sentence the principal gets interrupted by the secretary and a boy with a rather familiar voice behind the door. The principal who was surprised then smiles and sits back at his chair, "ah, so the guess of honor has arrived"
"Please Sir Ando, may you just cooperate this one time" I hear the secretary pleading the student he brought with much irritation
"Heck no Reese! He's my roommate right? Then I'll just meet him in our room. Why do I have to show the newbie around? Makes no sense. Plus I don't want to go into that freezing room. I'm getting goosebumps and I'm not even inside yet."
I then hear a sigh from the secretary, "Its cause he's your roommate that we assigned you. This makes perfect, logical, sense. And as for the cold, we both know that something like that should be nothing for you. Now get your ass in there."
I was a bit taken back. I never knew this is how the secretary would act when he's not putting up the nice, gentleman façade. Glancing back to the principal he's chuckling as we listen to the exchange between the secretary and the student. I do admit it was a rather entertaining dispute. I would laugh along with the principle if I wasn't still taken back with surprise. Though I was surprised with the secretary, something else caught my attention.
"FINE! You want me to show the newbie around, I'll show him" Abruptly the door opens allowing the cold air to rush out of the room quickly. What stood there was a boy with medium length midnight black hair and deep lilac colored eyes. He was rather on the petite side and a few inches smaller than me as he meets my gaze.
Looking at the student and my roommate, I give him a warm smile "Long time no see, Masato"
