When did you start writing?
I started writing around two years ago now. My first story was a Harry Styles fanfiction that I was very proud of at the time, but looking back now it makes me cringe! I was sixteen at the time.
Who is your favorite author and book?
My favorite author has to be Jennifer L. Armentrout because I love the way she writes her books as she always seems to really capture the first person narrative of a girl my age. Her characters are so relatable and I always find myself re-reading her stories. My all-time favorite book is probably Twilight because it was the first book that I really enjoyed and read so fast!
What is your favorite genre?
Probably vampire. My love for the genre stems from how many stories you can write about them. You can write romance, thriller, action, horror and so many more. Romance as a whole has to come in at a close second though!
What inspired you to write your book?
Reading other people's stories inspired me. I would read stories and find myself thinking 'but what if this had happened?' and then it would make me want to write it. I write stories that I want to read, but it just makes it so much more fun to write it yourself as you can be so creative with it!
What is one thing you did that has made a significant difference in gaining more readers?
One thing that I have done is getting to know more people in the community. I've found that the people I've become friends with have turned out to be some of my biggest supporters. Joining book clubs has really made me connect with others and often they like to read on if they enjoyed the first few chapters of your book!If there was one thing you could do differently what would it be? I wouldn't have taken a nine-month break. When I was around 24 chapters through my book, I got writers block and just stopped writing. It made me so angry with myself and disappointed, especially now that I realize how much I missed out on since I stopped. I wish that I would have just carried on and forced myself to write more. But, I like to think that my writing has improved since then so maybe my story has turned out better despite that!
Do you have any advice for new and struggling writers?
My advice would be to never stop believing in your writing. Even if you think that your story is the worst thing ever written, just keep going! There is always room for improvement, even for the most famous of authors and the only way that you'll be able to bring yourself to really write well is to practice. Writing a book is a journey that takes a lot of motivation and inspiration, but never give up!
Do you have any plans on publishing? If so, do you plan to go traditional or self-publish?
It's my dream to get to a point where I'm able to publish my book. If I were ever able to though, I would most likely want to go down the traditional route. But, that's only because I don't trust myself to be able to judge the point at which my book would be ready to publish!
