1. I've always written, but it was usually poems and short stories. Like really short stories!! I didn't start writing seriously until about 2 years ago! Broken Crown crept into my head one day and refused to leave
2. Favorite author? That's such a difficult question! I'm a huge fan of The Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I read it all the time when I was a little girl. And The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is such an amazing story! And of course, JK Rowling is absolutely brilliant! I'm such a Potter fan that when I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I stood in line and bought a wand with all the children!!!
3. I love Sci Fi and Fantasy! I love that in books almost anything can happen. That you can wake up one day and be a wizard or have super powers.
4. I honestly can't remember what happened to make me think up the idea for Broken Crown. But I do know that once Levens character entered my mind, she refused to leave. Eventually, I gave in and wrote down her story.
5. The one thing that really helped me get reads was being featured. The day I got featured I only had 2800 reads. Within 4 weeks I had 50,000! It was crazy!!
6. I started Wattpad in November of 2015 and started posting Broken Crown a week later. In four months I had 2800 reads and I was over the moon. I had loyal readers who loved Leven just as much as I did! And then I got featured and it grew. Boy did it grow! The comments and messages from readers about Leven and Calloway and Ryker were amazing. I was speechless that so many people loved their story! As of this moment, I'm at 50,000 reads, but my goal is 100,000. Once I hit that, I plan on sending out query letters to literary agents. Hopefully someone out there will like it just as much.
7. I wish I would have finished it sooner. I did a lot of writing and then walking away. I didn't think I could write. I didn't think I had any business trying to write. And then I sent a chapter to a friend and asked for honest feedback. I figured if she hated it, then I could put it all behind me. I knew she wouldn't lie to me. She emailed me back saying she loved it and then I couldn't stop writing!!
8. My advice for new or struggling writers is to never give up. If you have a story to tell, tell it!! I'm not a published author, and Broken Crown is the first book I've ever written. Stop comparing your writing or story to other people's. Reads will take time. And while you're probably saying "yeah right. She got 50,000 and has only been here for four months" those first 2000 were the most difficult and most rewarding reads. Getting featured helped tremendously, but if I had gotten rejected, I would still love the story just as much.
9. I would love to be published! I plan to go the traditional route, if that ever happens. To see my name on the cover of a book would be the second best thing to ever happen to me!!!
Since she is not apart of our book club, I would encourage all of you to check out her book Broken Crown. It truly is an amazing piece of art.
