Once they reached Abby’s house neither of them let go of the others hand. “I guess I have to go,” said Abby, staring at the house.

“You won’t disappear again, will you? You won’t ‘fake die’ on me?” amusement was his tone, but his eyes were serious.

She laughed, “Nope, like I could ever leave you. You might trip over your cleats again.”

He frowned, making her laugh more. “Until we meet again my lady,” he bowed, very sarcastically.

“You know, we should write a book about this.” Abby looked up to the sky, admiring the goldenness of the setting sun.

George was puzzled, “A book? About what?”

She rolled her eyes, “About us. About all that we went through in order to see each other again. About how you thought I was dead.”

George sighed, it looks like she wouldn’t let that go for a while. “Fine,” he said, “What should we call it then?” He played along.

“Hmmm...” She started to mull it over. George raised an eyebrow. She was actually serious about this?

“I got it!” Abby turned to face him, her little Georgy, the boy she loved, and gave him the most brilliant smile that it took his breath away.

“We’ll call it this: Dead, Until We Meet Again. What do you think?”

George laughed and turned to walk to his house across the street. He snorted, “Yeah, like anyone’s gonna read a story like that.”

Abigail wrinkled her nose at his reply. Well, she thought it was a good idea. But, she couldn’t help but spread a small smirk. She was back, she found her best friend, she got herself a great boyfriend, and she no longer has to pretend to be something she’s not.

So why not write a story about it?

“Abby! It’s time for dinner!” her mom yelled from the doorway.

Oh well. She’ll probably do it when she gets older or something.

Turning to George she calls to him, “Hey Georgy!” He turns around, only to see Abby making a funny face at him. He had the same feeling that he had when she kissed him the first time. He really loved her, and had missed his little Abby like crazy. Turning to face her, he returned the funny face.

She was back.

So, in this street, one would find two friends making funny faces at each other from across the road. Laughing, having fun, and feeling alive.

Back to their original routine.
