"Are you sure, Professor?" Jaime asked me as he stepped towards me.
"Yeah! I'm fine. Luckily I'm still within the first fifteen hours of my regeneration cycle. So, I have enough residual cellular energy to do this." I watch my shoulder heal, and my eyes flicker to the curious young boy. I watch the wonder and amazement fly through his eyes.
"B-But... How is that possible??" He asks as he looks at me with a questioning and curious look.
"Well, I am a Time Lord-" just as I kneel down to explain, the TARDIS engine phasing alarm starts off. "No! No! Not now!" I stand quickly, and bolt up the stairs and out the door.
"What's wrong?" Jaime asks as he follows me out of the door, and to the TARDIS.
"TARDIS engines are phasing!" I explain as I find a rope and fasten it aroung the doors' handles so I can safely land inside the TARDIS without landing in the pool or the library. "Ten minute hop into the future should help!"
"You're leaving..?" He looks up at me sadly. The sadness of this little foster child made my hears hurt.
"Just for ten minutes. I'll come back. I promise." I give him my best smile, and he smiles brightly back and hugs me. It's been a while since I've seen the smile of a child, and felt the warm hug of a happy one.
It is true, I had a family back on Gallifrey after my sentence to the stars had expired. I remeber them still... I had a loving family back there. My baby brother, the Doctor, had loved them to death, Allison and Dylan. I remember every single time we had taken them out to the fields of red grass for the picnicks we would go on every now and then.
My childhood with the Doctor was unforgetable. We were the two most famous teenaged rebels on Gallifrey, but the Doctor was more known. I guess you could say that, over the years, they had forgotten about me.
"Come back soon, Professor. Please." He said as i was about to jump back into my TARDIS.
"I will, Jaime. I promise." I smile at him before jumping into my time machine.
