Chapter Four : Nick
Brock and I watched Sky and Sunshine chat for a long time, I felt like someone who camped out all night for a big sale or to buy tickets or something. Brock and I were becoming impatient so we were just gonna pack things up and leave, but then I saw Sky and her friend Sunshine walk this way. My feet were planted to the ground and my heart began to beat like a hummingbird’s wings. Her black hair danced and bounced every step Sky took in her pink pumps, her eyes smiling like they wanted to say hello. Brock gave me a smile like I scored a touch down.
I don’t face her directly I just look out of the corner of my eye, so I don’t look to oblivious. She is so close I can smell her sweet perfume. As I turn to face her my veiw is blocked by a big head of bleached hair. Lin. My confidence crashes like a bad computer system that got a bug. I watch as the talk for a while and I see for a slight moment some dissapointment flickers on and off of Sky’s face. Instead of continuing her route towards me she goes the opposite way. I watch her and her black hair shrink as she goes down the hallway until she dissappears.
That night I felt so tormented and messed with. Sky was so close, but Lin took her away like candy from a baby. At dinner I just stared down at my plate, and whenever my mom, dad, or sister asked me what was wrong I just isolated them and heaved a mouth full of the angel hair in my pot hole so I couldn’t talk.
As I layed in bed that night, I stared at the ceiling thinking about Sky. I couldn’t sleep until I said her name like the 105th time, until I was so sluggish and drowsy.
