Chapter Five : Sky

            I got off the bus , and slumped my heavy backpack on my small spine.  Before I barely made in to the door, I was pumeled by my chocolate lab, Zeus.

“Stop it” I giggled as he licked my face,”are you my secret admire?” I said witty. Zeus barked happily as if he were answering me. After I recovered my little trip to the floor I headed to my room. Once I  plopped down on my big, blue, soft bed I began to do my writing assignment from Mrs. Gattlewood’s  ( my all-time favorite English teacher). I was just ending the  first paragraph when instead of writing a word I wrote “NICK”.  My jaw dropped in shock, english is my favorite subject, I never get distracted when I do english homework. I seal my eyelashes very tight and shake my head back and forth. This can only mean one thing…. I, Skylar Jennsen have a crush  on Nick Connors. A smile spread across my face but then lowers into a gloomy frown. He has a girlfriend though. After that I go straight back to work isolating the thought of Nick Connors.  

“Skylar! Time for dinner!” my mom shouted up towards me.

At dinner it is quiet, but we are use to it since my dad is over seas in the military. I miss him and so does my mom, but I think that’s what made me and my mom even closer. My mom tosses the salad as she blows away her jet black bangs out of her eyes. I get my hair from my mom but I get my eyes from my dad. I scrape at my bowl of macaroni and cheese just pushing it around as if it will make me feel better. My mom looks at me skeptical and asks “ Sky whats wrong I know the house is quiet sometimes, but not this quiet, especially dinnertime, did you and Sun have a fight?”

“ no, no it’s not Sun we’re fine, it’s not her, it’s hei….him.”I respond. I see my mom’s eyes flicker with excitement, and a big white smile across her face.

“oh my god, my daughter is in to boys!” My mother squeals.

“Mom, he is in a rela-“ I moan

“OMG! OMG! My BABY!!!” My mom interupts

“But mom he is in a relationship!!!!!” I yell holding back tears. My mom stares at me for a moment in shock.

“oh my baby” she says as she goes over to me and cradles me in her arms. I bet Nick is craddling his girlfriend right now. L

            That night I layed there in my bed trying to erase Nick Connors from my mind.
