After talking with the family, I walked up the stairs to the third floor to what used to be Edward’s old room. This is where my daughter slept now as it was her room, and it was completely different since Edward last stayed here.

Alice, of course, wouldn’t allow any girl in this family to have a closet even close to the normal range, so naturally Edward’s old closet didn’t do. According to Alice, Renesmee also needed a large bathroom, fully equipped and stocked of course, though Alice was always the one dolling her up every day. I didn’t see the point in Renesmee having a bathroom as large as she does, because she could have just as easily used Alice’s bathroom on the second floor, since that is where she got ready every day, but you will never find me betting, or arguing for that matter, against Alice.

It’s just as well that Esme is always looking for another remodel project or something to redecorate. I reached the third landing and walked to the east hallway down to the only door in this wing – past all the photos that were taken throughout Renesmee’s life.

There were photos taken the day she was born – Edward was holding her in his arms, smiling bright, and in the very corner of the photo, you could see my hand in Edward’s as even as he held our daughter, he never let go of my hand. That was one of my favorite photos even though my personal memories of my experiences during the time the photo was taken always made me shudder, even after all these years. There were photos taken a few hours later, and already you could see a difference in her – One with Esme holding her, another with Rosalie, then Alice, Carlisle, and even Jasper held her those first few hours. There was a picture of her with Emmett and she was smiling because she had just bit him. Then there was a photo of her in Jacob’s arms with a pissed Rosalie in the background, arms crossed, and clearly disgusted. Jacob was never Rosalie’s favorite person, even they have gotten better over the years, she can tolerate him – but only because she loves Renesmee and Renesmee clearly cares about him. There were pictures of her with Charlie and even some pictures of her down at La Push with Jacob and all of the guys. There were pictures of each of her birthdays, each Christmas, over half with Jacob, and then three photos from each of her graduations – her Bachelor’s and her two Master Degrees.

Renesmee was never allowed to go to public school as she grew too fast and way more developed than the average human. The entire family home schooled her and taught her everything we knew, and we had plenty of books in the house. When she was five years old, though she looked seventeen almost eighteen, she took the home-school state exam and earned her high school diploma. Just six months later she was accepted to attend Dartmouth University.   The most of the family moved to New Hampshire with her, but Carlisle stayed home to continue with his practice and Esme stayed with him. We were only gone five years, while we “Cullen children” went to college, but it was really hard to be apart from Carlisle and Esme.

Renesmee, Jacob, and myself all got our Bachelor’s and first Masters, while Emmett got number five, Alice got number seven, Jasper got number three, Rosalie got number nine, and Edward earned number eighteen. I still tease him that he has more PhD’s than years old he is. Alice studied Computer Science and Graphic Design, Jasper studied History – focusing on the Civil War – again, Emmett studied Sports Medicine and Athletic Science- again, Rosalie studied fashion – again, and Edward and I studied Biology and Human Health. Edward focused on Neurology for Carlisle and I focused on Genetics. Jacob studied Native American Culture and History, and Renesmee studied the Arts – focusing on Classical Music.

Five years later, the Cullen Kids returned home to Forks with eight more PhDs in tow. Just a short year later, Renesmee wanted to go back to school, but decided to stay close to home. Jacob and Renesmee went to the University of Seattle and both studied Linguistics and focused on Native American Language and graduated with high honors just less than two years later.
