I avoided the trailers all day, making sure I was at least a hundred yards away at all times. I had had to explain to Gore Johnny's absence on set for the entire afternoon, to which he had nodded, blushing, as I had fumbled for the words, seeming to understand what I was trying to say perfectly. I spent the whole afternoon therefore, hanging around with a morose Jack Davenport, trying desperately hard to make conversation, to which I failed miserably. He was completely and utterly different to Keira, Gore and Orlando, who were chatting away to me consistently, and even quieter than the elusive Bill who barely ever seemed to speak, though when he did it was usually about something interesting or important. Jack however seemed like he couldn't particularly be bothered to even pretend to respond to me, so I lazed about, wishing I could be filming with the others and willing one of them to come back to the set so I at least had someone to talk to.
No-one came however, and as it got later and later I headed back to my trailer to get dressed quickly before the drink we were grabbing this evening. I threw on the only outfit I felt like wearing and headed into my bathroom, applying some make-up as I stared into space, thinking about all the people I was beginning to form friendships with...I didn't even glance at my reflection as I snatched up my toothbrush and brushed at my teeth idly, leaning over the sink, wondering what the time was...
"Ooh, attractive!" a slightly tired looking yet smartly dressed Johnny said, making me jump as he appeared at my side in the small, brightly lit bathroom with a wide grin, his eyes fixed on my reflection in the mirror. I glanced upwards from my toothbrush and winced with embarrassment at the huge splodges of blush I had applied absentmindedly on my cheeks a few second beforehand. Judging by the resemblance I now bore to a clown, I had evidently put too much on the brush, and was now having to suffer Johnny's stifled laughs from beside me while I scrubbed at them furiously.
I dropped my toothbrush into the glass by the sink irritably, mind racing for a comeback so I at least had a little dignity.
"...You don't have to feel bad, Johnny!" I grinned, picking up my tube of toothpaste breezily and squeezing a long trail of it along the tip of my index finger as Johnny looked on in bemusement.
"Er...what?" He asked blankly, while gazing at my finger questioningly, the warm glow of the yellow lamp reflected in his dark eyes. I smiled, placing my toothpaste-free hand on the side of his face, causing him to twitch oddly for a second before remaining still.
"Here we are," I grinned before smearing the blue-green paste gently above his top lip, curling out on each side and meeting in the middle in a toothpaste mustache. Johnny merely gaped at his reflection aghast, as I smirked at him satisfied. "See! Now we're both hot! Aww...do you feel better now?" I asked smugly, giggling as he still made no attempt to wipe off the artificial facial hair, looking confused and not quite sure what had just happened.
"Touche," he grinned finally, looking weary but not at all mad that he'd just had a toiletry smeared across his face. I laughed triumphantly, and, hearing a knock on the door picked up my handbag and left Johnny in the bathroom to wash his face while I answered. I swung it open, revealing Orlando standing alone outside.
"Orlando," I nodded politely, not knowing what else to say. I was beginning to feel increasingly bad each time I rejected him, and was hoping, praying tonight he wouldn't request a date again...that he would just give up and let me be. Keira seemed to think it was weird I hadn't accepted him yet, but to be honest I thought it was weird that those two weren't together. When I had voiced this to her earlier however, she had burst out laughing, shaking her head and insisting that the two of them had a brother-sister relationship, with a few occupational kisses, causing me to laugh.
"You look really pretty," Orlando commented, causing me to inwardly groan. He'd started already.
"Mmm," I mumbled, unenthusiastic, knowing I in fact looked boringly average in my flip-flops, denim shorts and plum colored t-shirt, with only a pair of silver butterfly earrings to add to my outfit but it was warm despite it being late and pretty dark, and Johnny had informed me we were only going to Starbucks down the road anyway so I'd seen no point in dressing up. Orlando too was dressed casually in dark jeans and a tight black t-shirt with a vintage, multicolored little Beatles logo on it. He looked nice though, his brown eyes alight with energy as per usual.
