Chapter 2
What the hell. I couldn't think straight as soon as I recognized his voice. Out of all people, it really had to be this guy to see me like this?
"Lindsey Bartolome?" The person got out from his extravagant, red sports car. "What are you doing in the middle of the street?" He queried.
I dashed quickly away from him. It didn't matter if I was wearing 5-inch heels. What matters more is my dignity.
"Hey!" The guy yelled. "Where are you going, Lindsey?"
I ignored him and continued to ran. I don't know where the hell am I going but I just want that guy's face out of my sight!
It was as if the whole world was against me. The heavens chose this moment as the perfect time to darken and pour down heavy rain.
Thank you so much, life.
I was soaking wet. I can't seem to find any decent shade. And I can't run foolishly in the rain with these goddamn heels.
I let out a groan. I just want to break down in the middle of the road. Life hasn't been exactly good to me. What's the point of living life like this when I get it hard all the time?
A familiar red sports car honked at my back. I jumped out from the shock.
Oh God. He followed me.
The windows rolled down and revealed his smirking face. "Care to ride?" He offered.
***
"Just so you know, I only accepted your offer because I had no other choice." I huffed and concentrated my eyes on the window, refusing to make an eye contact with him.
"Sure." He sarcastically commented. "Anyways, I got some towels in the dashboard. You can use them." He stated.
"Thanks." I softly said. Why is he being so nice with me?
I quickly sneaked a glance at his direction and he seems busy focusing with driving.
I opened the dashboard, and true enough, he's got a small towel that could help myself dry off. I can't believe Asher Strauss is letting me rummage through his things freely.
Asher Strauss. One of the most powerful names in this area. He is a total socialite. He loves to party every night and is almost always present on every hot event that is happening in New York City. I've had some encounters with him, but that's all. Not only that, he's one of the most finest eligible bachelors out there in the world. I just know it because I've read the latest issue of Forbes.
You could say that he is my male version. Except, he has all the riches in the world and still lives the perfect life.
The only reason why I despise him is because he is known to be a jerk and a heartbreaker. He's dated and played around with girls—girls who happened to be my friends. Who could possibly like that guy?
But deep down inside, the truth why I really despised him was because he was everything that I wished I was. Living the perfect life. Having everything so easy. That is the life I dream of.
"You're awfully silent for a famous It Girl." Asher spoke all of a sudden.
I rolled my eyes even though he wouldn't see it. "I don't talk to strangers."
"Strangers, my ass." He muttered. "I believe that we're both acquaintances."
I couldn't help but scoff at him. Still, I remained silent after that.
I continued to watch the rain drops that rolled down on the window. I could hardly see any of the surroundings outside because of the heavy rain and the fact that his car windows were heavily tinted.
"You know what, I should just be straight to the point." Asher spoke again.
This time, I looked at him. He sounded so serious. I wonder what's he gonna say. "What is it?" I raised my brow at him.
The car halted to a stop and Asher made contact with my eyes. He had a mischievous smirk plastered on his face. "Be my girlfriend."
