Katherine awoke, beads of cold sweat dripping off of her forehead. Panting, she sat up. And suddenly, it hit her. Everything. She looked around frantically and flinched when she felt a bruise on her head throb.
"You're awake." A familiar male voice loomed large in the blackness. Wherever she was, it was dark and cold and wet.
Katherine twisted her head in pain, and wriggled her hands that were sore from a large rope bonding them together.
"Apologies about that bruise, it wouldn't be there if Rae had been more careful and hadn't dropped you putting you in that chair."
Rae.
"What's going...on?" Katherine's cracked and broken voice demanded. Her throat was like a desert, drying in the sun.
"All in good time." The voice grew in volume and resonating resounding footsteps drifted forward.
"Is everything prepared?" Katherine recognized it to be Wes and another three figures shuffled after him. Etania, Reece and Rae.

Yes, Wes. I found a way to summon Her so she can reclaim her property. Maybe then she will leave our island alone."
Etania reported, unaware of Katherine's presence until Wes, cleared his throat and shook his head towards her.
Property? Her? Did she mean the Sirena. Katherine hoped not.
"Forgive me Wes. I didn't know she was here." Etania apologized sheepishly.
"Well where else would she be? She is a vital part of the task. Or did you forget?" Wes sighed.
Katherine fidgeted slightly, they were talking about her as if she were an object.
Katherine didn't know what to do. Sitting there like a helpless duck didn't seem like a good option. What could she do?
She realized then, that she had used metal pins to make the sleeves of her dress, that didn't quite fit her, less baggy. Maybe they could be sharp enough.

Katherine flicked her hands around so they could reach the bottom of her sleeves. She could see the pins and wiggled one into her palm. She then picked the end of the blunt pin.
"Where's Astra?" Rae asked folding her freckled arms to her chest. Her practical brown and blue dress filtering by her feet.
Wes shrugged, "She said she was sick."
The pin was sharper now and she began sawing away at the rope. Suddenly, the cave went completely silent except for the echoing noise of a rope sawing painfully slowly.
"And what do you think your doing?" Wes said walking over to Katherine and placing a hand on her shoulder. She jumped and then froze. Why couldn't she move?
The honest truth was that she was a coward, she was always afraid of something and at this present moment in time she was afraid of--

A splash. Water lapping over the edges of a nearby pool. Though she couldn't see properly in the darkness Katherine knew what was there waiting, and her heart near stopped in fear of it.
