"Where is Damita, Ryanne?" Katherine's father, Lord Rowan Hepwick, had demanded, pointing to an empty cot. Keyton and Katherine were poised outside of the huge nursery, listening to every angry word.
"I have taken her away Rowan, you will not have her power." A dark haired woman, Ryanne, replied sternly, crossing her arms making the gold bracelets jingle lightly.

"Ryanne, think of the power we could possess? With her we could get rid of all our enemies, all of the criminals. We could rule." Rowan' s voice raised slightly ,the thoughts of such power danced before him.
"No Rowan, you expect the Council to agree with you? She is but a child. I won't let you find her." Ryanne said slamming her hand on the cot side, a fire blazing in her turquoise eyes.
"Yes. You will tell me," Rowan replied slyly, leaning closer to her ear as he whispered in it, "You cannot go back can you Ryanne? They tossed you aside like a scrap for the dogs. She may have the ocean's essence left in her- but you don't, you're stranded! Until... You get me that girl."

Ryanne looked slightly alarmed but masked the feeling with a firm look of determination, "I will not."
"How ungrateful! You do remember who rescued you from that curse, don't you Ryanne?"
"Yes...You did."
"And you owe this to me?"
Ryanne sighed before speaking, "No...yes...I suppose I do."
Rowan smiled victoriously, "Good."

Katherine awoke with a start, cold beads of sweat trailing down her forehead. She had not had that dream in a long time.
Why have it now? She could never piece it together, it had made no sense. But then she was only a child, and she had left the corridor after Rowan said 'good'. But then.... But then they had said the name Damita. She had heard the islanders speak of such a person and , whomever they where, they were very important it seemed. Prehaps that was part of the mystery. She decided to go find them and ask them.
Katherine pulled herself out of the small beige coloured bed, it had been uncomfortable during the night but , of course, she was used to a huge queen sized bed with a velvet duvet and violet canopy, her stomach rumbled, and servants to fetch her breakfast. Touching the cold floor she padded towards the small dresser opposite her and searched through it.

She remembered the girl Etania tell her there were some fresh garments in there. Katherine undressed out of the cotton night dress and slipped into a light blue dress. She shrugged at it, thinking it was quite plain, but silently thanked whoever put it there- she certainly  could never wear the dress she wore yesterday.
After combing her hair and putting on some small black boots she found under the bed, Katherine strode before the door and went outside. The warm sun smiled upon her face as she greeted the new day. Today, she would get some answers;her stomach grumbled again.
And some food...
