Darkness. That's all there was. An empty void. Nothing to go back to, nor nothing to motivate me to go forward.
Just to make sure I still existed in this place, I rose my hand into my viewpoint. I'm not considered tan or pale; I'm more in the middle. However, the slender hand in front of my face is so pale and pasty... It's nearly white.
Looking down at the rest of my body, I realize I'm not in my normal dress. Or wearing a dress at all. I have never seen these clothes before in my life! Or any clothing similar to the outfit on me, for that matter!
The top I was wearing was slightly baggy, with many colored stripes that went in a horizontal. The stripes seem to be in a certain pattern...rainbow, was it? I remember Morgan had taken me to see a rainbow at a lake about 2 miles away from the village when I was young, but that was the only time I have ever experienced something so multicolored and blended. I believe the pattern was red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and then violet. That's the exact pattern the top had. At the base of the collar, there was two thick strings coming from within the shirt, with a knot tied at each end. I reached around to the back of my abnormal outfit; there was a pouch at the back of the top. I estimated it could fit a little more than the size of a head.
I noticed I was wearing...pants. Oh dear. I'm not allowed to wear anything but petticoats and dresses. No women in my village are. The bottoms were a shade of milky white and made from a very peculiar fabric with odd stitching at the sides. Right at the hips, there were little slots cut in the pants. They were just able to fit my hands. I remembered Father had called them "pockets". There were larger ones on the rear of the pants, as well.
The most unusual article of clothing on my body were the boots. They were black and made from a weird type of...leather, it looked to be. There seemed to be some sort of platform on the bottom of the shoes, giving me the illusion that I am a few inches taller than I really am. There were randomly-stitched lines in the platforms.
While looking down at my feet, I caught a glimpse of the hair that was falling past my shoulders. Instead of its natural, dirty-blonde color, it was a shiny silver. It reminds me of the hair of the elders of my village. Just above my head, I saw something illuminating a bright gold aura in the darkness. I felt around my head for they source. I found and grabbed hold of it, but not before nearly puncturing my hand with the sharp tip. I slowly let my hand slide down the object, feeling the smooth and glossy texture. I soon realized...the object was a horn...and it was attached to my head. I tried desperately to forcefully yank it off my skull, but it only produced a terrible sensation to my brain and a headache that was sure to last for, at least, a few hours. I eventually gave up.
At some point, I heard a ruffling sound behind me. I quickly whipped around, praying that it was someone else with me in this place, but saw nothing but more black. I soon heard the ruffling again and felt something soft brush against my cheek. This time, I only turned my head around, unbelievably shocked at what I saw.
Wings. Big, white, feathery wings that seemed to be growing out of my back.
Does this mean I can...fly? I thought to myself questioningly. Suddenly, the wings sprang to life and flung me high off the ground and into the air. Afraid of falling, my brain instructed the wings, that seemed to have minds of their own, to flap as fast as possible and keep me from falling to my death. Surprisingly, the things on my back did exactly that. For some reason, this all felt so...natural. The horn and wings feel right in place.
Off in the distance, I saw a figure moving in my direction. Desperate to talk to them, I mentally told my wings to safely lower me to the ground. Even though I landed on the ground fairly well, my feet slipped from beneath me and I fell on the cold, hard ground. I became encased in my white feathers, not wanting to land on them and get injured. After the fall, I heard footsteps of the figure nearing me. They soon halted. I peeked through my wings and saw they were directly in front of my figure.
They outstretched a hand to me, offering to help me to my feet. Before accepting their assistance, I studied the hand. It was pure bone, with no flesh at all. In the palm of the skeleton-like hand, there was a large hole, going straight through the bone. I was about to question the person, but decided against it. Taking their hand, I used my upper body strength to push myself off the ground, trying not to pull them down onto the ground with me. After finding my balance, I brushed off my odd looking clothes.
"Thank y-" I began, then cut myself off when I noticed the person's attire. Their body was completely covered in a long, dark cloak. Them being about half a foot taller than me, I had to look up to see his face. However, I could not see their face, for it seemed to be shielded with a mask of some sort. On that mask, it looked like they painted on a black grin and and large circles around the eyeholes. I also noticed the mask had cracks, one starting at the right eye leading upwards, the other starting at the left side of the mouth going down.
I just looked at them for a while, until something in my brain scolded me, 'Don't you know it's considered impolite to stare, child?' I gave the person a dumbfounded look.
"I beg your pardon, but did you say something?" I asked them. They nodded slowly before "speaking" again.
'Yes, that was me. I'm afraid that I cannot speak, unless it is wingdings or, in this case, telepathically. I suppose I should introduce myself: My name is Dr. Gaster, and, no, I'm not a real doctor, but a scientist for the monster kind.' Dr. Gaster then stuck out his skeletal hand, most likely for me to shake it. I took him up on his offer and took his hand in mine and gave him a small smile.
"Hello, my name is-"
'I know exactly who you are, Astra.'
Astra? Why does that sound so familiar? "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you must be mistaken me for someone else..."
'Hardly. How many other 15-year-old girls are there in this world with glowing unicorn horns, magenta eyes, and wings?' This is were he scared me. Magenta eyes? What happened to my hazel ones?! I decided to just go along with whatever he was talking about.
"Well, I suppose you have a point there."
'I'm terribly sorry, I would love to stay and chat, but I must go now. I will see you soon, Astra.' At that time, Dr. Gaster began to walk back towards the emptiness of the void he came from.
"Wait!" I called after him. He turned around to face me once again. "Why must you leave so soon?"
'Because, child, I'm afraid it is time for you to wake up. Until we meet again, Astra.' And with that, he disappeared into nothingness, and all of the dark became a blinding, white light.
