I'm so intent on finishing this story, I already now how it's going to end for Jinx. Hell, I'm already looking for her Yule Ball dress. I'm thinking blue. :]

By the way, that random person will be showing up in this chapter.

Oh yeah, I have a picture of Jinx that I spent a LONG time on.

Holidays were coming to a close. Two days until Hermione came back. I had taken to searching for Flamel now, too.

But that's only because I ran out of comics to read.

Lavender had come back early, much to my disappointment, and I now wasn't alone in my dorm.

"Hey, Lavender, did you see an earring case about this big?" I asked, showing the size of the case with my hands. "It holds some small, pink flower earrings."

"This?" She asked, holding the case up. She looked inside. "I cannot believe that you would wear these. Seriously, the would look horrible on you."

"They're not for me." I snapped, grabbing the case. "They're Hermione's Christmas present!"

"Where's you get them?" Lavender asked.

"I dunno. My Aunt gave them to me years ago. I prefer reds an blues, so I never wore them I thought I'd just give them to Hermione." I shrugged and pulled out the wrapping paper that Ron had thrown atme a few afternoon's ago. I had used magic to flatten it out so I could wrap Hermione's present in it.

I wrapped the present and tied a ribbon around it and set it carefully on Hermione's bed.

"That is so lame." Lavender said. I glared at her.

"What is so lame about it?" I askked.

"Going through so much care for a girl who's annoying and bossy."

"You mean, going through so much care for my first and best friend." I retorted.

"Whatever. Well, I can't wait till she's back so I don't have to entertain you." Lavender sighed.

"I've been hanging out with Harry and Ron!" I exclaimed. "I've been avoiding you. Don't over-sell yourself."

And with that, I left the room to find Harry and Ron. I glanced over at the clock.

Lunch.

Ron wouldn't miss lunch if it killed him. I wouldn't either, usually, but I'd been eating so many sweets I wasn't hungry.

So instead I decided to talk a stroll across the grounds. It was beautiful out today, the last of the Christmas spirit lingering in the air along with frost and hint of pine tree.

I strolled over to the tree by the lake and sat down in the snow. It was cold on the butt, of course, but I didn't mind.

"Decided to skip lunch too?" A high, melodious, voice came from beside me. I looked up to see a Ravenclaw girl. I recognized her from the sorting. What a long time ago that was. "May I sit?"

"Sure." I said. She had warm brown eyes and long, straight, dark brown hair. A spray of freckles danced across her nose. She was tan, considering it was winter. "I'm Jinx."

"Jinx?" She echoed. "Are you pure-blood?"

That hit a nerve.

"Yeah." I said almost rudely.

"Oh. What's your last name?"

"My legal name is Jessica Malfoy, but I go by Jinx."

"I'm Azalea Dolt." She said. I almost laughed.

"Dolt?" I echoed.

"I guess we both have odd names." She grinned at me. I grinned back. I gazed back out on the lake. It was the same colour as Draco's eyes. When would he get back? Do Mum andDad know I escaped?

"Penny for your thoughts?"She asked.

"Well, it all started with the sorting." I said. "I was put in Gryffindor while the rest of my family has been in Slytherin. They pride themselveson being pure-blood. I think it's ridiculous, personally, but their minds are set. I had been terrified of what my parentswould think of me being in Gryffindor. I would be a disgrace. And so I was. I originally went home for Christmas. I told them I was in Gryffindor and they locked me in my room to die. I sent a messenger bird to Harry-"

"Harry?" Azalea interrupted. (Here it comes....) "OH MY GOD! I LOVE HARRY POTTER! Do you know him? Could you introduce us? Do you like llamas?"

"Yes, yes, and yes." I laughed.

"Oh, I went insane again, didn't I?" She grinned. "I often forget what I'm doing. My thoughts over power me."

"Don't I know what that's like!" I exclaimed. "I once ran into a tree. And I clearly saw it before me. It was like, "Oh,a tree!" and THWUMP!"

"I'VE SO DONE THAT BEFORE!" She screamed.

"DO YOU LIKE LOLLIPOPS?" I yelled at her.

"YES I DO! DO YOU LIKE BEING UPSIDE DOWN?" She screeched back.

"NO! PEOPLE WHO LIKE BEING UPSIDE DOWN ARE JELLYFISH!" I screamed.

"TOTALLY!" She yelled back. We sat back down, laughing over our stupidity.

"Ah.... So you sent a bird to Harry. Then what?"

"He told Dumbledore what happened. Draco brought me money so I would be able to survive the summers, and I was rescued. I lost quite a bit of weight, and my hands were badly cut. Once I got to Hogwarts, I fainted for dehydration. I was locked up for three days." I finished.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" She asked.

"Fine." I said. "So how about you?"

She pursed her lips. "I'm pure-blood." She said.

I nodded, wanting her to continue.

"My parents were killed when I was young. I was adopted by the Dolts'. They're not terrible and I love them very much." She said. "When my letter for Hogwarts came, they were shocked. They're a wizard family, but they live in France."

"Long way home." I noted. She nodded. Now that she mentioned it, I could hear a slight French accent.

"They were expecting me to go to Beauxbatons, like my mother, but the Hogwarts letter came.... I did some research and Hogwarts looked better. But, to be honest, I wish I would've gone with Beauxbatons." She rested her chin on her palm.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"No one wants to be my friend." She said. "I go to classes, I eat, and I read. I've seen you and Harry Potter and that red-head and that bushy-haired girl laughing and having a grand ol' time over in Gryffindor. I wish I was a Gryffindor."

"I'll be your friend." I declared. "I struck up conversation with another Ravenclaw first year just yesterday. What was his name.... Alexander Noble."

"I've seen around.... I never thought of making friends with boys." She mused.

"Don't knock it till you try it." I grinned. She smiled back.

"So, we'll talk again, won't we?" She asked.

"Absolutely." I said. "I've never met anyone more equal to I than you."
